Does Collada add camera import? That's the only real thing that's killing this from a workflow standpoint for me.
Another small feature request: customizable background colour for the render backdrop (medium grey now). I'm working on something really subtle and dark now and it's hard to see against the light grey.
Octane Render 1.021 beta2.1 released [OBSOLETE]
bug: I sometimes set the samples really low to just work out the blocking of the scene and shaders but if it's done rendering and you try and sample a texture, it doesn't update the UI unless you move the camera. If that's not clear, I made a movie sample I can post.
Actually - a lot of things don't update if you change them after it's finished rendering. I just changed a texture and it didn't update until I moved the camera.

hey, some of the interactivity indeed depends on the engine running, cgbeige wrote:bug: I sometimes set the samples really low to just work out the blocking of the scene and shaders but if it's done rendering and you try and sample a texture, it doesn't update the UI unless you move the camera. we're changing this along with our re-do of the multi-gpu we're currently working on,
as we had to rewrite most of that whole area.

I just got a crash when trying to show an OBJ and the log shows some phantom link:
10-04-27 4:07:29 PM [0x0-0x4d04d].org.refractivesoftware.octanerender[775] Cuda error in file '/Users/terrence/devwork/Octane_Project/trunk/src/renderer/rendertarget.cpp' in line 700 : no CUDA-capable device is available.
That's your Mac dev system, not my user directory. There's no crash log written otherwise.Anyway, I have to log out and back in again to get this to go away. Still not sure why.

this is probably due to your gpu 'hanging' as we call it in the office.cgbeige wrote:I just got a crash when trying to show an OBJ and the log shows some phantom link:

sometimes after a crash, you're gpu is hung and you need to reboot to reset it properly to start a new instance of octane.
i'd be interested to know what action made the initial crash happen though...

we often have it happen on windows when we make errors while programming, on windows it requires a real reboot.cgbeige wrote:well luckily I don't have to reboot - just log out and back in again, which makes me think it's some sort of user-level CUDA daemon that's killed with the crash.

Request: can you update the Unnamed Project tab name with the saved OCS filename? I'm saving out multiple files and don't know what file I'm working on at any given time.
