hmmm maybe I 'll upgrade to a GTX470...4x is a decent speed up...also would fit my case ;)

I looked at the price of a 3 card Octane power rig but its prohibitive/hard to justify, unless you are in a rendering business. $5-6-7000 here :cry:

Work Station : MB ASUS X299-Pro/SE - Intel i9 7980XE (2,6ghz 18 cores / 36 threads) - Ram 64GB - RTX4090 + RTX3090 - Win10 64
NET RENDER : MB ASUS P9X79 - Intel i7 - Ram 16GB - Two RTX 3080 TI - Win 10 64

Octane Beta 2.2RC1 + WinXP 64 + 2x XEON + 12 GB + 8x GTX480 = 29 thwak (20.97 Ms/s)

But, GPU LOAD is not that high. There seems to be some room to increase speed.

So the good news is your 8 gtx 480 rig can run under Win XP Pro 64!

PS: Please stop using this "thwak" disturbing unit, MSample/Sec is sufficient enought I thing.

which motherboard can support 8x GTX 480? what about power supply? not even talking about electricity bill O_O
