hmmm maybe I 'll upgrade to a GTX470...4x is a decent speed up...also would fit my case

It is exactly what I have done so far 
Work Station : MB ASUS X299-Pro/SE - Intel i9 7980XE (2,6ghz 18 cores / 36 threads) - Ram 64GB - RTX4090 + RTX3090 - Win10
Net render : MB Asus Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE - XEON - 128GB - 2 x RTX 3090 - 3 x RTX 2080TI

Octane Beta 2.2RC1 + WinXP 64 + 2x XEON + 12 GB + 8x GTX480 = 29 thwak (20.97 Ms/s)
But, GPU LOAD is not that high. There seems to be some room to increase speed.

which motherboard can support 8x GTX 480? what about power supply? not even talking about electricity bill O_O
