for 1: Check that 'Force a 2DTransform UV for RGB image texture' is off, in Octane preferences, tab Trouble Shooting..
for 2: That's right, only the connection of a 2D transform works. The other valid transforms (3d, scale, rotation,..) are incorrectly refused..
That will be fixed in the next release.
