Tested on different scenes. Scene upload speed is awesome. But this 4.0 RC1 build so unstable. Tested on very light scene, checked "Enable denoiser" and got a message "Render failure".
And these are just tests where I rotated the viewport. Without fine tuning, no rendering, no material edit, no light creation.
Still unusable since March 2018. Shame, shame otoy.

Octane is very fast, but its instability completely kills everything.
And looking through the messages on the forum, I understand that this problem is not one and not two years already.

I bought another render engine last week (a RED one, you know what I mean).
And when I saw 4.0 RC1 I thought that I hurried with the purchase and finally I can use octane 4.0.
But everything is in order. Otoy is so otoy.
Probably "stable" 4.0 will be in the new year, not earlier. But you know, it will be "stable" in otoy style.

I do not blame Aoktar, he's a fine. I blame OTOY for idiotic politics, when only one developer is involved in the plugin development

Thanks aoktar for his work, but I have to remove octane until better times.
After a year and a half, maybe 4.0 will become more stable (in otoy way). Then we'll try.
Cinema 4d NEEDS MORE PLUGIN DEVELOPERS! But we have only one and we are not customers, we are beta testers.

Cheiser,
Let me explain some details.
1- I'm using same codes for 3.08 and V4 builds. So there's no problem on plugin side. And we don't see any crashes in so simple way. I think your setup has some frigability with Octane.
2- This is still experimental SDK. I'm having some crashes too. It's still normal for an engine which is refactored.
3 - Please read your messages and say me how can I understand without enough debug information.
4 - what's your reference? What remands you that you need more C4D developers? You're in conflict what you say about me.

About 2000 views and just few friends reported crashes. What about rest of folks? Are you happy or having crashes like others?

1. Ok, i agree, maybe my setup "has some frigability with octane". And many others too.

2. How long will it be "still normal"? First build of 4.0 was in MARCH! Six months have passed since then!
Otoy have made official release of experimental 4.0 build. I thought that finally I would get everything that I was promised a years.
But as a result, it turns out to be the possible rawest build, practically not working.
It takes another six months of "refactor" process and it's still a non-working build. Great, looking for Octane 5.0 in latest video, awesome plans.

3. Debug info in attachement. And more info:
R19.053
Windows 8.1
I7 7800x, 40gb DDR4
GTX 1080, GTX 1070
Driver ver. 398.82
I'm sorry, i cant provide you a scene because of NDA. But another render have no problem with this scene, logs from which I attached.

4. I dont know why, but I uploaded my scene (.obj) in Standalone and its ok. While using C4D Plugin - random "render failure". Looks like problem with my hardware or software, obviously.

I just want to use your product, bought for the full price, not for the subscription, not to play the beta tester, years of listening, that soon everything will be ok. But now I have problems with my tasks, 3.08 cant handle such a big scenes (a long time uploading the scene), and 4.0 just does not work as it should.

I wish i could refound, but i cant.

While you're using standalone it uses less VRAM and RAM. But in C4D you need more resources. Because C4D needs to use additional RAM+VRAM. Also you may be on limits of system VRAM+RAM if your scene is big for 3.08. You're still limited to physical RAM+VRAM in V4. How much triangles and textures you have? Are you checking FREE RAM and VRAM while working?

For me, Octane/C4D has never been stable on MacOS. Ever. I have managed to do work with it, but I always feel I'm just one click away from a crash (it even brings down my entire system on occasions). I think the technology is amazing, and I appreciate Ahmet's efforts – seemingly with little help from Otoy. But like the other guys says, it's been years now and it's still not anywhere near stable (at least on the Mac), which is a shame because C4D is pretty reliable. I may well just move to ProRender in the future, but I live in hope that Octane will come good.

V3? V4?

And which renderer stable for you? You may have some chronic issues on your setup. I'd be happy to check your system by remote connection. Even though that It's not my work part.
