And here's a classic example of why AS is such a great feature to have (and rounded edges too).
Thanks Octane developers! Keep up the great work.

@doca Good point about the path term. parameter, I guess we should just lower it a bit when AS is on. It all depends on the lighting in the shot ofc.

Would it be possible to allow AS settings to be changed without restarting the render?

Are there some "save to go" values with AS? Or do you have to adjust them for each scene individualy?

Interactive changing values would be pretty awesome, but I'm pretty sure thats no possible.

Hi Guys,

Really great updates thank you for all hard work, I was testing the adaptive sampling is really nice. The only thing I think is is missing is a option to recognize the image luminance to help on the sampling, usually bright part and really dark areas the noise sometimes are not visible to much of corse only when we over expose on post. Maybe a extra option to help to clean more faster I gues still really good already with a small denoise we can't get quite clean renders. :o

Best,
JO

Just activate the Noise render layer, it will give information about the noise amount in light areas as well as in dark areas

we dont have AS for max yet. Would be nice to see lights, glossy reflections blurred out in the background (DOF) because before it was way too noisy for octane to do . if anyone has it would be cool to see like the lights in the photo attached

would be nice to know too especially for animations. We wont have time to adjust all these values for each animation shot

Right..in my scene test I got same result as for render time and don't see much of an improvement but I do post the noise layer too in order to get some help, the AS picture is as default settings and now proceeding to test with less path term power from 1 to 0.7, I also using the Kodak 64CD as I reckon it has more contrast BUT don't think it affect much on noise cleaning.. any thoughts? help? as it is it looks not working on my beloved 780 ( but 1070 on his way )..willing to post the scene for an optimization.

Actually anyone with a little test scene because 2 of my scene i'm testing with does not do much if nothing..render time the same as before and so the noise.. were should I look?

EDIT: It does it.. ;) I set the same scene at 8000 Samples and after like 4500 or less it start kick in fast and it stopped at 11.41..tricky  ...as normally to get a fast render for me was to balance settings in order to get a decent noise free image with less samples while here now I need to add more samples in order to get AS work better?..

time difference twice! and I can make it even faster!! :o
HI Mikinik.. any chance to know were to download this scene for AS testing purpose?..I saw it plenty of times I guess on the Corona test but it's clear I need comparison..

Thanks
