As Marcus mentioned, adaptive rendering is not a difficult feature to implement with the V3 film buffer and it will be i 3.1.
Might be bumping an old thread here (which is kind of the point) but if it was not a difficult feature to implement then why didn't you?

It's been 10 months now since you wrote that. In which time we've had to redo our materials since you 'improved' Octane.

As for Brigade - yeah right.

FYI FStorm now has a commercial version released and you won't believe the price.

C'mon Otoy - give us a reason to stay, please.
Actually I'm Glad someone is still thinking about claiming 3.1 with AS out of the secret Otoy lab, I totally agree with you, It is Feb 2017 and yes Fstorm has made in a 3 months time remarkable progress and very productive (see super bump feature ect..) Ok I will not enter ANY debate about developers as I'm pretty sure the guys are waiting for the Core feature to be released and be Implemented BUT I've spent days and months in order to get a proper settings to clean noise faster and the quality is not LEss than any other Engine SO ONCE MORE..How difficult it is to release Adaptive sampling and few features like Burn and Contrast and a LUA filter that is able to load external adds? My update money are on hold but considering buying a year license elsewhere and frankly it would be such a waste of my time and resources because is not everyday you change and start from scratch your workflow..don't get me wrong I'm much capable of not caring of any other comparisons as this is only good to improve and learn .. I'm not a moaner I can handle 2 licenses but ANY NEWS? Thank you

+1

Just seem otoy resources and energy are invested elsewhere these days. in the mean time no AS, no light\reflaction exclusions, no complex IOR and non of the feature promised for so long. im closely watching REDSHIFT fast development. i gotta say these guys have a deep commitment for making their engine as feature rich for actual production needs.

Best,
Guy

PS: Dont get it wrong. i love octane...and i want to stick with it. but the rate of core development is making me look elsewhere :(

Just checked fstorm adaptive sampling and I was amazed. Even light reflecting and DOF of glossy objects and lights are all smooth. This adaptive sampling should be been done long time ago

I have been sporadically watching fstorm progress; great to see it's gone commercial; but why subscription!!!

Can't say exactly why subs gets me so upset; just want to manage my own monthly cashflow I suppose.
