ahhhh ... do you know what is the problem?

Amazing ... when you enable a Modeler guides object in the FiberFX panel, Layout changes the guides object "unseen by camera" flag and set it to enabled. You need to disable it, because with this flag enabled, all the hair system is hide in Octane ;)

Now I need to work in the UV shading problem.

That's hilarious. I knew it did that, and I knew that was important in Octane, but I totally failed to make the connection. Well done!

My character and his beard now look nearly perfect. I've even got a good texture despite the UV bug. I've just added a projection node and it works fine.

There are some people here in Kansas who are very grateful to you Juanjo! Thanks so much!

It would be nice to see some cool hair renders and workflows.. How do you do that? I mean, I couldn´t get anything out, for a simple reason: I am no hairdresser, I have no clue how hair is supposed to be made to look good from scatch in the first place, even with a tool a kid could use.

Same problem goes to creating clothes.

Sheehs.

Can you please tell me if you are having similar problems?

I have been working on a scene with FiberFX and Octane for hours, have saved often but now when I try to load the saved scene, LW crashes just after load! :( :(
This happens for many saved scenes but not all (the oldest ones do not crash but they were very simple and almost no Octane stuff in them).

Is this bug in FiberFX or Octane?

And how can I get my hours of work back when LW crashes before I can do anything?

PLEASE help me!

If the scene crash while loading it, this problem can be a bug in LightWave. I know that the LightWave 2015 FiberFX has some bugs that are going to be fixed with a new LightWave release really soon, but I don't remember a crash loading scenes.

Can you please send to me the whole scene (scene, objects and textures) to test it here?

It seems I found solution:

I need to edit the LWS file and change row
ToolDraw 1
to
ToolDraw 0

It seems that it is connected to FiberFX 'eye' button (i.e. opengl draw) and if it is on when saving the scene, LW crashes on load.
I tested it two ways:
-edited the ToolDraw back to 1 -> crash
-changed the 'eye' state to on -> crash

It seems that Octane always tries to render the fibers even if the FiberFX is turned off on scene load so that could be related to this problem. But still only the 'eye' state on causes the crash.
Of course this SEEMS like LW bug (and fatal one!) but it still can be related to something that Octane does so that's why I hope Juanjo can check this :)

Also when I haven't used node editor in FiberFX, I get the "node editor not initialized" error every time I try to do something in FiberFX or open the IPR. This I'm pretty sure is purely Octane problem :)

Thanks!

Yes, this seems a LW problem. Check your scene with the "soon to be released" ;) new LightWave 2015 to see if it is fixed now.

Currently to work with Octane and FiberFX you need to enable the fiberFX node editor and set a Octane material inside linked to the material input to avoid problems and error messages. Anyway you need to add a Octane material to shader your hair.

I did some more testing and the problem seems to be related to Octane after all because when I created a new scene with only one cube and added fiberfx, it worked fine. Then I activated Octane and added some nodes for materials (for base material and fiberfx, simple diffuse material) and when I tried to open IPR, LW crashed. Now that scene loads ok but when I try to open IPR, LW crashes every time.

Of course this is not exactly the same problem as with my other scene but it seems Octane and FiberFX don't like each other in some way :)
