What happened to BRIGADE?

$4 worst case, but closer to $1 with spot instance pricing. If we want lower price and see a market for it, we would run Brigade off AWS. Hard to make that call until we see real world usage. It also looks really good on 4 GPUs with filtering.

I've been fooled too many times by wonderful videos showing amazing things, and then the real product was a huge disappointment.
I'll believe it when I see it on my screen...

During the 3.x development timeline, on ORC, we will roll out an an export to Brigade option for your already uploaded ORBX scenes (same ORBX files ORC uses for image/video/VR/LF render jobs w/ Octane). You will then be able to launch or publish (as a URL) a live stream to a Brigade viewport, backed by the same token provisioning system that ORC uses for GPU/timeslice workloads and X.IO uses for app streaming.

Brigade streams should work well at 720p60 in the browser with just JavaScript.

On native, after v3 is out of alpha will update ORBX media player app with depth streaming and remote viewport re-projection of Octane or Brigade rendered ORBX scenes. This will significantly reduce latency, especially in VR. This will also work well with remote rasterized content too, such as a raw UE4 apps on X.IO, or simpler Octane3 baked FBX mesh scenes embedded in an ORBX media file (lua script nodes provide basic interactivity in OMP).

On GearVR if a mesh is more than 65k polys, best to remotely render it form the cloud or your own PC (we support both). With PCVR, even on a 980, beyond 10-20+ million polys, for example the forest scene in our truck video, you are better off rendering this as a remote layer using Brigade on 4+ GPUs.

Interesting, the future is exciting. How far in the future this will happen is hard to say. I doubt we can see all of this within this year, but hey, I can dream. ;)

In aging, after I hit 30 mark almost eight years ago, years have gone by very fast.

Year is a short time frame. So, if you wan´t to be one of the first who deliver high quality scenes with all this, better start now with the scene build up. I have and I am sure I feel, when this whole is coming to life, that I run out of time.
