oops, too many posts...

remove all cuda and nvidia related things from the application uninstaller that comes with windows,
and follow the windows installation video (just click on the 'windows' icon on that linux installation demo page) ;)

I think the issue is that the only driver he has available is cuda3.1 and I believe the Demo only runs on cuda3.0. Is that the case?

Ok well perhaps if he is stuck for a driver for the 460 cos the demo needs cuda 3.0 he can it try out on a friends computer with a different card.
People can refer to the videos to get an impression of Octane in use if they are really stuck. http://www.refractivesoftware.com/videos.html
He should know the latest commercial beta runs fine on a 460 with the drivers that are available.
Its just a bit of an unfortunate situation that the 460 has come out after the demo was developed and the cuda version has moved on ;)

Sorry I cant do more than that for you bariscan90. Hope you arent put off by the small gotcha with the demo. I dont think you would be disappointed if you bought a license now anyway just on the basis of what you can see and also hear from other users.

Hi,

Another Crash Problem: Demo beta 2.2.

I can load the obj but as soon as I click on it octane crashes. Including demo obj's.

Dell T3400 Q9550
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 259.57
Developer Drivers for WinXP (197.13)
4GB mem.

Looks like an interesting product I would love to give it a run.

Cheers,

/ENO

Hello,
The present Demo requires an Nvidia driver with cuda3.0. Quadro driver 197.90 is suitable.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-win ... river.html

For windows you dont need anything but the driver ie no Toolkit as well.
Cuda is included within the driver now.
I dont think the readme with the Demo makes that clear.
Remove the drivers you have and just install 197.90

259.57 is cuda 3.1. That driver is suitable for the current licensed beta version 2.3pre v5 but not the Demo.
