Hi icelaglace, icelaglace wrote:Still no normal maps but just changed some stuff in the SSS material... will upload to liveDB later if people are interested.
I'm very much interested in the skin shader you're. I have some materials on my own.
I would like to compare with what you have here.
They look really great.
Thanks.

Does lightstage capture specmaps aswell? It feels like the sun-bathing image gives a very diffuse look, and I miss some kind of specularity in the skin (its too even, where you want to see some spec on the forehead etc).

It does, problem here is the scene, if you check the previous pics you can see it does shine very well.PeterCGS wrote:Does lightstage capture specmaps aswell? The light is way too strong & stuff like that; you're not alone thinking it looks too diffuse ^^
I'm going to try without specular maps or different settings again.
+ you can see the specular, it's just over-exposed. I'll do better pics later.

These are looking amazing!
it looks just like a real head, no joke.
although, in the last image, it looks like the normal map may be a bit too strong, or its very cold out and hes got goosebumps
That being said, you could easily show these to someone and they would say it's a photo. Maybe you should think of some viral marketing where you do stuff like this but don't tell people its fake, maybe using light stage and famous actors? do some "glamour shots" and put them online. Maybe in a pretense of a new movie coming out or something, then once you get some hype about the "new movie", spill the beans.

Hi. The cgi here is impressive. However I'd like to point out something which seems kind of unnatural to me. In the last render where he is sunbathing his head. There are parts of his head which don't look very flesh like.
Like for example the lower part of his ear. It looks more like it's made of clay instead of flesh. It's like the colouring is very uniform there or something. I don't think it is an SSS issue ( maybe it is ). In my opinion it probably looks fake because that part of the ear should have reddish spots not due to SSS but due to blood vessels which always seems to appear on a thin skin.
Also, the upper central part of his forehead, has the same clay-like problem in my opinion. The texture or the colour seems very uniform, I can't explain exactly root of the problem, but I can see it. Last but not least, the area which is between his eye and his ear, though a bit on the upper side, seems too perfect or something, very flat, don't know. There is something definitely wrong there.
Don't take me wrong, the rendering is very photorealistic and an average person wouldn't notice these things, just offering my opinion in order to help.
