LAMH and Garibaldi to Octane Hair would be Super! Would freak out DS users.

So.. when do we get to see the March 1st build? seems quiet again.t_3 wrote:yes he did. i'm currently waiting for another test to finsh. nothing special, just 4x gen.4 fully textured, couple clothes, inside a building, standard sun light, default auto mats, nbr of aniblocks thrown in. res is 1280x536, post pro bloom and cam blur. there are two machines with two standard titans (vram need is 2,5gb), 1600 frames rendered in the past 3.5hrs...kibbycabbit wrote:Wow! Did he say the animations are fixed on March 1st build? That steers my wheel in hard turn.

I've been using the OR Carrara plugin recently and good though it is there is nothing more immediate than the OcDS plugin. The Carrara interface seems so slow to me and having to adjust plugin lighting, textures etc in Carrara slows everything down. To adjust lighting it appears necessary to edit the Atmosphere but this is not real time so the plugin viewport doesn't update the results at the same time the light is being adjusted like the OcDs plugin does. It's so quick and easy to adjust the environment lighting, textures, cameras and rendering settings using the OcDS plugin. I don't think I can ever change to another renderer now because DS and the OcDS plugin are so fast together. I haven't tried iRAY yet but it's reported to take quite awhile to load the scene before it starts rendering.Liagriest wrote:So.. when do we get to see the March 1st build? seems quiet again.t_3 wrote:yes he did. i'm currently waiting for another test to finsh. nothing special, just 4x gen.4 fully textured, couple clothes, inside a building, standard sun light, default auto mats, nbr of aniblocks thrown in. res is 1280x536, post pro bloom and cam blur. there are two machines with two standard titans (vram need is 2,5gb), 1600 frames rendered in the past 3.5hrs...kibbycabbit wrote:Wow! I have a new appreciation for OcDS plugin and can't wait until it's finally released. But I'd rather wait until t_3 has implemented and double checked everything before it's released.

I agreed.
Iray is long to load before rendering and no valuable interactivity yet.
I also like the export to the standalone, as the plugin sometime crash on load the scene, I work (fine tuned) on the final scene directly on the standalone. But I hope that all could be done on the next version (it is so easier).
I realized that the future function "pause and resume to/from disk" is what I need for my long render.
Is it possible on the current standalone 2.22 ? (as it support ORBX format)

Hello i have gotten the patch to get the G-Force GTX 970 to work with Octane Render in Daz 4.7
but i get problems when i try to save out renders as pictures.
i get an error "invalid file" then the program freezes up and then i get a CTD, am i doing anything wrong or is it a bug?
Regards

Please send this to t_3 as a bug report. Until we get a beta update or there's any meaningful support from the developer I think it's impossible to determine whether this is actually a bug or a user/system error. Was this patch released for the plugin or the standalone? The plugin is completely separate from the standalone so any patch has to be designed for the plugin which is currently at a different stage of development to the standalone.solarie wrote:Hello i have gotten the patch to get the G-Force GTX 970 to work with Octane Render in Daz 4.7

And I've used a titan x in 2.1 with no problems, which uses the same architecture as 970/980.
Perhaps off topic, but does 15-16 Mb/s seem slow for a titan x? I'm getting 30+ in Octane for Carrara.

Unless it's on an identical scene with identical materials and render settings, it's difficult to compare speeds across plugins. There is an official benchmark you could run and see if your card is performing comparably with other Titan X's, but narrowing down what in each plugin is affecting speed can be either really easy or really hard depending on your scenes and settings.
