Just answer to what you asked with an updated video:

Very cool. Your scene definitely had some shadowing noise that made the denoiser more worth it.

But there is something my eagle eye saw....

With the Denoise series you ran 7 GPUs
With the Denoise-Off series you ran 6 GPUs!

That contest was GPU-Rigged!

I still think though you displayed a scene where denoising helps - shadow noise.

But, most important, the scene looks awesome!

Oh, yes ! you found it.
Sorry, I tested yesterday with a GPU dedicated to Denoise and forget to enable it back for render.
I will update the test again tomorrow. So as you said, denoise will not gain much. Lets see again.

Edit : Finally, I want to see the difference so redone a new test with 7GPUs : https://youtu.be/taXzmmwBjz8

Would it be possible to use old gpu's as AI coprocessors?
I'm soon going to build a new workstation and have several GTX590's laying around :)
Sorry, Denoiser is not supported on Fermi cards. You can try some old Kepler cards but that card should support latest drivers as well.

I built one of my old scenes in Octane 4 just to test out the interactivity, out-of-core stuff and the denoiser. I don't use standalone a lot but I wanted to try and build a relatively complex scene in Octane 4 to see how well it handles it.

Will the navigation slowdowns in the viewport be fixed when the denoiser is ON. It's about 10 times slower when it is on. In some scenes you have to turn it off and on constantly when navigating in the viewport.

Batch RenderJob node doesn't work. Hit RUN and nothing happens.
Batch Rendering from scripts:
1) missing render priority option
2) if I try to render 2 or 3 Targets, render images are black or cut or with artifacts. When rendering only 1 target - everything is OK. Please fix this.
And maybe it is time for XB2?

Urbach says that new versions will be more often. But it is 1.5 months from XB1. Often? Now it is same as always. With this speed, we will get XB3 at the end of the year, and plugins in the next year.

XB2 is working on all platforms, bring tested here at the moment before we release to users, also trying to squeeze in space/sky system, it didn't work right in pure OSL, so it is being baked into V4 (terrain and planet can be OSL, as can starfield).
