I noticed it does see and load materials that are located in the root folder of the local DB. but not if they are in subfolders.
once i press on a subfolder i usually get a crash.

yes correct, currently the R19 plugin version has been released only for 3.07-test-3a, and only for Windows at the moment, Mac version will follow:
