BUG: Colored transparent materials are white on the fly, but convert to the correct color using an override

1. Add a cube
2. set modo material to Transparent amount = 100%, Trans color = 0.9,0.1,0.1, Refractive index = 1.5
3. Start octane

RESULT: The octane render shows a clear (white) cube. If you add an override it becomes red

EDIT: Looking at the on-the-fly nodegraph, you are plugging the color correction node into opacity instead of transmission

Did you check the Modo Event Log?

EDIT: The log message is related to displacement mapping on Modo701/801 and is a plugin bug, which I will fix in the next release.
I noticed frame width and height can not animate. Today I must output a large amount of various sizes images. If you fix it, I am glad.
This is deliberate - since in general I would think people would not want to have the output resolution change when rendering an animation. It's easy to change, but I'm not sure it's a change other users would want that. Happy to hear from other users on this....

I remember wanting to render a couple of shots with varying resolutions over night. Wasn't that important at the moment, so I didn't try. But that's something we definitely need in archvis, could be related to this request..
Modo itself could really use a decent render manager software, these are all half-solutions until that happens.

I have refreshed the installers at the top of this thread with:

2.23.2.79
- Fixed various issues associated with loading and saving defaults setup for the Kernel, Camera and Environment items in Modo901
- Added "Reset Settings to Default" to the Octane Environment panel
- Added the Change Lock button back to the Modo901 Octane toolbar
- Fixed issue where the "Edit in Schematic" button was not working if the "Open OctaneRender Setup Window on Selection" Preference was disabled
- Fixed Image Sequences not working. Note: Image Sequences are only supported on one-the-fly material conversions (ie. not supported in Octane Overrides).
- Added bump map conversion for specular materials
- Fixed issue were on-the-fly material conversion was plugging the Transparency Color into the Opacity instead of the Transmission pin

Saving modo and octane materials over rides works, with a master assembly node...

Paul it is confirmed. Maybe we can do some automation here :P

The secret was to make a workspace that will contain the octane render materials workspaces and octane materials overrides, and the mesh items.
So we modo reload the items it will preserve both the links between octane overides nodes and the nodes in a sub-workspace for each material.
Thank you again for the hint.

cheers,

Hi Paul, I have a cropper plugin in modo 901 and it seems not to be working with octane. Could you see why not? thanks

Hi - not sure what a "cropper" plugin" is - sorry. If there is another plugin conflicting with the Octane plugin, send me a link to it and I will investigate.
