I would like to report a bug with the latest build

When changing HDRI Images in the Octane Browser "..." the program crashes. I have been able to reproduce this error on every occasion. If you select "Browse from disk" everything works.

I experimented with the OctaneRender Image browser ORIB and loading images in the past weeks and was not able to produce a crash from the ORIB.

Retested again with
OctaneRender for DAZ Studio 3.0.6.16
Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.9.1.30 - Products installed with DAZ Connect
with .jpg, .hdr, .png, .dds, .tif, from a few kb to 50+MB file sizes.

Does the ORIB also crash for you when you access it from the Node Graph Editor NGE and change any other file type than .hdr?
ORIB can be accessed in the NGE.jpg
Update / Edit:
Last time I was searching around for hours when I could have checked for an error message.
Maybe worth a try:

Try to have both the NGE and the ORIB open in a floating not docked state.
Rearrange them so you can still see the Octane "System" tab where error messages would appear.

ORBI and NGE floating - not docked v1002.jpg

Can you spot an error message in the system tab right before the ORIB crashes?
Can you spot any error message in the log file after a crash?

I am using the latest built 3.0.6.16
DAZ 4.9.1.30

I have made some screenshots of the process on imgur.

http://imgur.com/a/ncUlu

I only have this issue with the latest octane build, previous versions always worked fine.

I do not know if this can help, but this is the error that pops up in the crash screen from DAZ

DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\QtCore4.dll" at 0033:00000000599D3E33, QString::operator=()+19 byte(s)

PS: I just got the same crash by opening the ORIB from the NGE.

Can I sent you any output from daz crash log?

Can you pls try deleting the OctaneRender_settings.oczdb as per question 8) at https://docs.otoy.com/DazStudio/?page_id=15. Does this resolve the issue?

Thanks

Hi Paul,

I did as described and deleted the file and reauthenticated. The error still persists.

After that I reinstalled version 3.0.6.13 and there everything works, no crash.

I then reinstalled 3.0.6.16 and the crash happens again

Hello Paul

I'm here to report a problem that (apparently) affects only me, since it's pretty annoying.

Copying a material to my presets, then copying to clipboard and then pasting setting from (material name) crashes my Ds.

I'm not doing anything particular.
I just set up the material (not in the nodegraph editor).

Ask me anything that may help you.

I could reproduce this bug. In general, the process of copy and pasting materials to the clipboard is implemented incorrectly in the plugin, so does not work, and I have been gradually removing these options (for example you can no longer copy/paste LiveDb preset materials). Instead of using copy/paste, use Copy as New Material and then drag the new material onto the material you want have pasted to.

I will remove the Copy to Clipboard option from the Material Presets menu in the next release.

Thanks for the advice.

Ps Are you still considering this feature (custom default render setting) ?

It's something that the plugin needs, however with the current codebase it is not easy to implement, so it's something I would rather tackle after Octane 3 is released.
