I feel like Octane also has better features than iray imo. I do have a plan to make some tutorials of the octane plugin once we get the new reworked one, didn't want to start now since none of us know exactly what will be changed. It sounds like daz's old QT libraries are also a bit of a problem, I saw another app wont be supported going forward cause it's not updated anymore. Thankfully daz is updating studio, we just dont know when they're going to release it. Have you talked to BK about the material conversion stuff? I feel like some stuff is probably tricky, but perhaps basic stuff could be easier to setup to auto convert.

Octane is still my goto over Iray for two reasons: 1) it is much, much faster and 2) it isn't limited by GPU VRAM (or less so).

This despite having to spend a lot of time on manually converting materials.

Are you still having to convert a lot of materials after using the Octane render Kit over at Daz3D?
i usually convert materials and add them to LocalDB list so I can easily substitute them. There was a trick fo modify the data to allow studio to use your LocalDb, but that may also be lost.

"If you build it, they will come"
The ORK was actually a decent release. It brought to light how easy it was to get great renders using Octane and introduced a lot of users to its interface. some of the materials were not right but users could learn how to use them.

Yes I have ORK and it does help somewhat; it doesn't contain all materials and I still struggle with good hair in Octane. The videos especially were very helpful in understanding how to handle Octane materials. I managed to figure out how to save my presets as well as import from ORBX files (but those don't get saved in my presets for some reason).

A bigger challenge I face is the LiveDB; I simply don't use it because it suffers from the same problem the Reality material database did: people put any kind of junk there. Its quicker for me to spend a couple of hours figuring out my own material than it is to trawl through poorly named and generally incorrect materials. It's basically useless in its current form.

Hi Devs,
Is there a timeline we are looking at for a stable updated release.
