i can live with that!

im having another issue that i had before...but not for a while (maybe related of the lighting im using and a particular material)

in metallic material- mixed with some diffuse material for details. im having some intense fireflies and cant seem to shake them with with caustic blur at .95 and GI clamp at 16 - not fancy of going lower.
Using hotpixel removal doesnt help with these either.
using pathtracing and they lurk there way over the 5000 samples.
the lights that might be causing this (if it isnt a bug) are Black body emission with an IES (i didnt use IES in Black body emissions lights before and now this give me much lesser noise leveles)
Hi MartinBoom,
try to take a look at here:

Hi Paride and thanks for the reply..

first: i dont have a glass before de geometry light emiter (and it has an IES)
second: i've tried using the hotpixel removal and i'm mapping the roughnes, specular and specularmap channels with grayscale maps.
these are not typical hotpixels that can be removed with the "hotpixel removal" of the camera.
i know your tutorial of the incandescent light...but is not really the case here.

regards,

martin

Hi Paride,
Do I always have to add ornatrix mesh modifier for octane to render hair? What if I have millions of hairs? Thank you. Without this mod octane doesnt render hair

In preview mode, the z-depth channel does not react to the settings, you can see what you get only in the renderer.
in the last version was the same.

Hi MartinBoom,
emission nodes with complex geometries, can generate hotpixels and noisy effects.
in your case it seems that the light comes from inside the cylinders or in any case from geometries that you could reduce to simple polygons, like my tutorial.
You could create a light (in ythis case an OctaneIESLight might work well as well, and then use a (less intense) light to illuminate the cylinder. This way you can adjust the light to illuminate your scene, without "burning" the lamp objects, you will reduce render times and the hotpixels should disappear.
Said that the AI denoiser is a great tool with hotpixels and reducing the samples to rneder.

I found the reason.
in this topic we are discussing the latest version, not 3-4. ;)

Hi Sidches,
but it doesn't seem to be directly related to your issue.

Hi Paride,
Can you send this error to devs. master stops rendering with this error
