thanks again for this short termed update:)

for upcoming releases please dont forget to make the enter button on the numpad work under linux and hopefully the file dialog under linux will be improved some day too. the momentary dialog is very poor in its functionality and steals so much creative time..

thanks for your hard work and keep up

cheers,

dave

edit: the given linux driver link seem to be old/wrong

Hi Dave,

yeb all those things are noted. We will see, what we can squeeze in in the future.

Regarding the NVIDIA driver link: Do you mean the links provided in the readme? The opening post of this thread has only the CUDA 3.2 toolkit links.

Cheers,
Marcus

If you release bug-fixes every week or two, however minor, then we can easily observe the progress, which is not the case with the occasional tid-bit being fed into the forums.

Many thanks; more power to your collective elbows, and pedal to the metal all the way!
Thanks for the feedback. One more thing I would like to add to Radiance's post: Although the next release will be a major one and is still a bit away, we will very likely be releasing smaller updates after that one again. Mainly to shake out bugs, that have been newly introduced, but also to add some small things that didn't get done due to time constraints.

Cheers,
Marcus

I hope that one of those small things is the ability to change MaxSamples without Octane restarting the entire render (as discussed here: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... =33&t=5125).

abstrax thanks for updates... honestly this software is a heavenly gift. ....

-- i just want to point out something ...kinda buggy..

i load the tree - used UVmap for image and also same image's alpha channel for opacity. Problem is ..that alpha channel is not showing up in the shadows...this happens in directlighting... path tracing works ok...

sorry if someone already posted this somewhere...

hey marcus,

yes you are completely right, i didnt read the readme carefully enough, the driver was only mentioned but the link refers to the cudatoolkit and is correct.
sorry for this.

what do you think about some kind of bugtracker to know what bugs/improvements are noted?

since you updated the demo i hope a lot of new users will join the octane world so that you have enough $$ to squeeze as much as possible;)

New Octane crashes a lot:

I simply started Octane and browsed the liveDB material list.
It seemed just after the settings for a material are downloaded this happens:

Problem solved - while I had the updated drivers
I re-installed the toolkit and then the drivers.

I left the error message because might be of any use.
