Thanks for the updates, any idea when we will be able to use multiple gpu's with cuda 3.2?
I have dual 580's and there are no drivers that allow them to work with cuda 3.0

Agree with the posting in top of me: functional multi-GPU-mode for CUDA 3.2 should get highest priority!
or better: "must get" or I´m out. I´m afraid to say that iray looks more and more promising instead.

Today CUDA 4.0 should become available and then we will see, how NVIDIA wants us to do multi-GPU rendering with CUDA in the future. With some luck it will become a lot easier and better scalable than in the past. If that's the case, we skip CUDA 3.2 and rewrite our CUDA framework for CUDA 4.0, which should take only a few weeks.

Cheers,
Marcus

abstrax, that´s the best news I heard today, seriously, made my day!
BTW, this is the kind of communication to the userbase that should be performed more often.

No new features? that's a little bit dissapointing, in the lastest versions (2.43, 2.42,etc...) we ask for small features or tweaks as different exportation formats (PNG is not enough), UV clippling, and some other features, but none of them has been included, what a shame.

yes think more in a production contest.
The macronode for material is a pain for for everyday work.
And the navigation (rotation) in 3d unbelievable in a 3d soft like octane.

The reason for that: Recently there has been a lot of complaining about animation rendering that doesn't work, hangs, crashes and so on. -> I wanted to get the fixes out as soon as possible.

In general there are basically two approaches: Either you release more often, but only in small incremental steps or you release less often with larger change sets and more features. Although it's a bit more work, I prefer the first approach, as it allows us to bring changes to the user a lot quicker.

So, don't worry. This is not the last release, there are more releases coming in the not too distant future and there will be new features, too.

Cheers,
Marcus
