How to use the render layer passes.
Is it on the roadmap to support alembic scenes in renderlayers? I don't get an extra node pin when I plug my scene into the object layer map, only when I plug an OBJ into it.

for alembic nodes, you can activate the object layers options directly in the preferences of the alembic node by clicking on the proper icon in the node inspector

Doh! That didn't occur to me. Thanks!bepeg4d wrote:Hi Italic_,Italic_ wrote:Is it on the roadmap to support alembic scenes in renderlayers? I don't get an extra node pin when I plug my scene into the object layer map, only when I plug an OBJ into it.

Is OTOY/ OctaneRender looking to making a "material" that is similar to the matte/shadow/reflection shader like in MentalRay?
I only ask as what is possible to do in mental ray in one or two steps with potentially no post production, requires multiple steps and post production in OctaneRender.
Thank you

Sorry to drag this thread up again but much has changed.
Now there are a lot more passes available, i'll try to keep this concise.
The passes that are visible (green), I understand the layer order, blending mode and what I can use them for.
The additional passes (red) are what I would like to know about in regards to
Layer order
Blending Mode
and
What I would/could potentially do with those layers
Thanks in advance

Hi,
the Filter passes are used if the Raw option is enabled, please, have a look at this document:
Beauty passes.
