Do you think there will be a 6 or 8 GB edition?
Octane for 3ds Max v2.21.1 | i7-5930K | 32GB | 1 x GTX Titan Z + 2 x GTX 980 Ti
I guess we might see 8gigger, but I would be very surprised to see it this year,..RobSteady wrote:Do you think there will be a 6 or 8 GB edition?

Hmmmm. I was thinking of getting a 970 for my next card because it looked like the best bang for the buck. Now I'm indecisive.
What I did is get a second hand GTX780 Ti for the price of a GTX970.... a lot of people want to get rid of the 700 series right now.
Win7 Pro x64, Phenon II 940, 8 GB, Geforce 470 - Modo, Zbrush
good move =) I've done the same. used 780/Titans are flooding resale sites =) for gamers that new card might bring some tempting features, for the rest (like GPU raytracing crowed) these used cards is a bargain hard to resist =)))remon_v wrote:What I did is get a second hand GTX780 Ti for the price of a GTX970.... a lot of people want to get rid of the 700 series right now.
Another guy from overclock.net confirmed poor speed of 980

thanks for info, @Smicha!
That sucks. So even if they should make a 990 it would still not be faster than a 780. I'll guess we have to wait until 2 quarter 2015 to see a 780 killer.smicha wrote:Another guy from overclock.net confirmed poor speed of 980

These are exactly my thoughts - even if they release titan2 with 4000 cuda cores it will score 8ms/s and be as fast as 780ti.
