Do you think there will be a 6 or 8 GB edition?

Hmmmm. I was thinking of getting a 970 for my next card because it looked like the best bang for the buck. Now I'm indecisive.

What I did is get a second hand GTX780 Ti for the price of a GTX970.... a lot of people want to get rid of the 700 series right now.

good move =) I've done the same. used 780/Titans are flooding resale sites =) for gamers that new card might bring some tempting features, for the rest (like GPU raytracing crowed) these used cards is a bargain hard to resist =)))

That sucks. So even if they should make a 990 it would still not be faster than a 780. I'll guess we have to wait until 2 quarter 2015 to see a 780 killer.

These are exactly my thoughts - even if they release titan2 with 4000 cuda cores it will score 8ms/s and be as fast as 780ti.

Maybe you should give OTOY a chance to update Octane for the new Maxwell architecture, just like they had to for Kepler, before making final judgement.
