Hi!
better double check on the nVidia website (technology/cuda/cuda gpu) but I'm afraid the 4500fx is not listed among the CUDA capable cards (it should have a 7xxx series chip)

Hi, this card is not one years old, it's much older... if you bought it last year you bought an old card last year...

Greetings, I'm a new user trying the demo.

Currently using C4D on Macintosh Snow Leopard, and would love to try octane render for our rendering needs.
I'm running a MacPro with an ATI card, does that mean we'd have to upgrade our studio's mac pros to nvidia if we want to use octane?

Hi there.
Anychance to have some feedback please?
I tested again, re-did all installs. It keep on crashing at the rendering moment (when clicking on the mesh node)
If I hide the rendering viewport (set to node inspector for exemple) and click on the mesh, no crash.
If i switch from Node inspector to render viewport, crash.
Some few time with crash report, but most often just crash.

Is it because of the GT120 that is too old?

Thanks for feeback.

regards

At least ! I could boot octane on my macpro !

For info, it's a 2.26 xeon.
Octane boots under 10.6.4
Just check that Cuda is up to date in system prefs. (3.1.10) Before I reboot my mac and Cuda rings for the update, octane wouldn't boot at all.
And I (only) have a GT 120

So.

Imported obj, added sky and cam, than crash! :(
very frustrating...

here's the bugreport... hope it's not to bad ! ^^

EDIT:
I tried with more simple object (simple revolution on a plane), the crash occur when clicking on the mesh node.

Hi it would be nicer you put such long crash reports to http://www.pasteall.org/ or similar,
it very hard to follow the thread.

Cheers, mib

Hi,

Current 2.2 versions use cuda 3.0, not cuda 3.1
Can you try with installing cuda 3.0 toolkit and drivers ?

radiance wrote:Hi guys,

we need everyone's problem with more details, if octane does'nt work on your OSX machine, there's likely something not correctly installed,
so we need individual information, eg, the details of the crash report would help.

But OK, I'll edit posts...

just found the 10.6.4 thread (in the customers forum): the new 3.1.10 CUDA driver seems to have solved the problem

Ah well OK, thanks for answer. OK i'll try downgrade to cuda 3.0 then. And will come back for report.
