I would like o suggest what I think is an important revision to the material sphere (especially for the future).
I would like to see either a progressive or stepped material thickness variation at the base of the sphere.
There are quite a few variations of this as seen in competitors material spheres.

The material Sphere has a bar inside the curved surface, which serves pretty much the same purpoe, try rendering a glass material with it.

actually i tested LW with demo, to understand its power.
i can help you to write tutorial about interfacing of Octane with LightWave3D.
i use Lw from many years,i wrote tutorials and articles on it in english and italian, over many magazines.
