Cmon.. When I said that lechu's images are great of course I mean it, but I took it quite opposite than you.
I got inspired by them, not the opposite.. ! So start making things.

So what is the criterion? The most realistic render, most interesting render? Nuverian I'm not oposie to Lechu he's my friend. Some peoples made some complex scenes, wasted a lot of time for optimize them to export, and then Enrico said final job can be very simple, so thats mean you criterion is not most artistic shot but more realistic?

Maybe the criteria is "most awesome." Granted that can mean different things to different people, so I think that is why it is vague. If you worry about what exactly the judging wants then you already failed. Do the best you can and you could get shocked.

Well I think that's life simply... sometimes you work hard and get nothing, other time you just make single shot and got it. Thesame is with GPU's - one has slower, other faster. For more than last two years I was operating only at low end notebook and had bad resultsu in my 3d works because of the hardware's limitation. I simply had to earn some money and get myself good PC, does anybody said that CG is a cheap thing?

But getting back to my renders, as I said I didn't want to make any disturbing situations here in this thread, so my own decision is to withdraw from the competition and move my renders to other forum thread. Don't get it as I've felt offended by anyone or something like that. I understand that people with slower GPU's, worse hardware etc. can get discouraged by some means and in general it would only disturb further Octane competition (and by this - later development). So my decision is to quit and honestly wish others really much better projects than mine :)

And still I'll try to make some more of these, but in onther forum thread, simply to support Octane.

Very good renders lechu !
I don't understand this strange situation about your renderings ... It's the game; you have done cool octane renderings, and you have your chance in this contest ! what's the problem ?
Hope you stay with us !
Don't have enough time to test beta2 now, but the new features are really exciting ! good job Octane team ;-)

Oh come on, this can't be right. We are not going to be come a community who discriminate against awesome artists. Then what will we become? "We will become something! I'm just asking questions!" Oh, sorry I can't help it, had to hit that one out the park. Anyways, It's about artistic choice and presentation. We should be learning from Lechu. I thought the person who said not to make any entries were just complimenting Lechu in a very sarcastic way. Please Lechu, stay in the competition. We need more good artists around. Not less. By the way, my scene in the work were also giant due to beta 1. So I sort of paused on it after I saw Radiance said the deadline is pushed back and we get to play with Beta 2(yay!). Haha, you could say I wasted a lot of time trying to make my GPU even load my mess without crashing Octane. But now I guess I can manage to put more junk in there. (Muahahahahah!). Keep it coming everyone. We have an awesome community, let's not change that. :D

Easy, I'm not about to get offended (or anything like that) and leave Octane . I promise to post something more in my spear time :). I'm sure there would be more much greater works than mine published quite soon so my withdrawing wouldn't change anything ;). And the renders would still be in the official galery so there's no problem for anyone.

The worst thing people can do is to blame their tools. Stick with what you got and use it best way possible, find workarounds etc. Lechu please don't withdraw your entry it makes no sense...

Cheers,

Agreed. People have have plenty of time to make awesome renders - even if they were using an unbiased CPU renderer. Tools are not the issue here. Its all about taking the time on something and presenting it in the best possible way. Software and hardware is no excuse.

@lechu - You should definitely not pull your entry!

Yup, sorry guys I want to apologize for my words, I've talked with Lechu, he stays. You have right he is right man on the right place.
n1k - generaly yes but do you think you can get, on the same way, the same render with eg. GF8800 GT and GTX295? Sorry man but no rocket technology in Octane with firs GPU in this comparison.
Phr0stByt - what are you talking about this is an Octane not CPUs-renderes competition.
Try to compare some older GF in Octane with your GPU and than tell us what are your impressions. Everything is fine, but even philosophy has its limits.
