So is it 780ti or Titan that are not "compatible" with splitter with X79 board ?
So interesting!
Seems like the X79, or 3930K, has an easier time with the lower end card 1x, whereas the higher end card overwhelms it 1x (wonder what it is that overwhelms it, maybe a higher info traffic exchange...CUDA cores processing, VRAM info exchange, Core clock info exchange)

Hi !

End of freeze episod ? :D

Take 4 hours to change the splitter to cluster :

Dispatch all external boards...

Installing the cluster (version 1.2)...
res-DSC03736_OK.jpg

Into the chassis.

Connected to the main PC.

And ... Works ! no freeze with the red car (baking cam and high resolution up to 8000). YEP ! :D

Awesome Itou, great work and great news!
Your work also paid off for me, it fixed my issue as well!

Do you have the fabled 12 GPU now (or at least the ability to have)?

No way, I can only put 9 GPUs. when try the 10th, cannot boot (BIOS error 0xd4 : out of ressources) and no 4G option on my P9X79 deluxe
Ha also, I mod another Titan single slot to put in my main PC.
So now 4 internal GPU and 5 external GPU.

Itou, on the insufficient resources thing, see if the BIOS has the PCI lanes running at Gen3. If so, changing to Gen2 may enable. I have seen that where Windows gave me that specific error when I changed to Gen3 from Gen2.

Thanks for the advice, but not enough, I think that 9 GPUs is the limit for my motherboard.

One thing that helped me was I went to the direct technical support if my mobo manufacturer and asked them to add an above 4G decoding option. Maybe they might be able to add it in. :)

I like the cut of your jib.

Have been running into your postings in the usual places.

As I'm not a full paying O customer (yet) I cannot pm you, have some questions as you've been run similar architecture to me. But... I don't want to bifurcate this thread - could you drop me a line direct please? (ps, TomG has helped - A LOT - too. Hi Tom if you're reading.
I apologize for the delay. What's up?
Because I have 180+ GPU processers in 16 tweaked/multiOS systems - Character limit prevents detailed stats.

tipt0p wrote:Hi guys,

Sorry if this is off topic but i just wanted to find out if anyone is running 16x GPUs on a 8x lanes server board such as SuperMicro? I'm planning on installing 8 to 10 GTX 780/980 cards on the board but these server boards are 8x slots which obviously aren't going to fit, what's the best work-around solution for this? beside 16x-to-8x adapter cable?? And have you noticed any loss in performance if you're using risers / splitters?

Thanks
I'm using PCI-Express-Riser-Card-x8-to-x16-Left-Slot-Adapter-For-1U-Servers on my Supermicro X9DRXs. It's a conversion card to fit X16 cards into X8 slots. You can find them on E-bay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-Express-Ris ... xycmBSso04 . Shipping can cost more than the card unless you're buying them in quantity.
