Just released version 1.5 d. When the normals inside an OBJ were not correct this could cause problems. So now I'm calculating them myself on import.

Hey scatter fans, a small heads up.
I am considering of changing the yearly license to a fixed pricepoint. I think the program can appear to a lot more users that way.
Are there anymore desired features?

Dr. Phantom, I am curious about something: If Octane supports volumetrics (smoke, fire etc) and particle fx in the (hopefully) near future, do you think you would be trying to either tweak PS to work in that realm too, or possibly make a new app? I'm assuming we will need point clouds etc for Octane volumetrics... That is kind of right up your alley, is it not?

Hey Frank,
If there is a demand for this, I can certainly look into it. But to make a statement on this I really need a lot more info about (as you said) how Octane is going to deal with this and equally as important, how you as a user would want to apply this in your scenes and for what. If I do anything, it's going to be inside Phantom Scatter without question. I have the entire GUI setup including tools to mess with stuff while moving in 3D through your OBJ scene.
My favourite thing with programming is generating data out of thin air so it does seem like something useful. When you get more information about it, send it my way so I can take a look.

I'm a LW guy, and would very likely be doing all my volumetric and particle crap there.. but I am currently working on something that made me think of you and the Octane volumetrics/particles to come *crosses fingers*.. for those that would want to be able to do smoke etc in Standalone. Maybe Otoy has this completely covered. We will see.
Maybe other folks will chime in?...

I'm currently working on board cruise ships and I'm unable to use this program due to some requirement for Phantom Scatter not being able to connect to a remote server?
I've just connected to the internet and tried loading PS so that it could connect to whatever remote server it requires to connect to but my Norton Anti virus just completely removed PS from my system!
Why this program would need to connect to the internet is beyond reason in the first place, can you remove this in future update please?
*UPDATE*
I finally got Norton to accept PS as a safe program but still having problems with not being able to reach this mysterious Remote Server
The ship I'm working on blocks a lot of places over the internet such as Skype, YouTube, PornHub etc so this is probably the reason why I can't connect to this PS server :s
Is there a way to disable this feature?
Thanks,
Nick.

The reason Phantom Scatter connects to a remote server is to check whether you have a valid license. It's an anti-piracy measure, if I were to remove it everyone could just steal my hard work. If you can't get around this, I'll get you your money back.

I didn't think about that, sorry x(Phantom107 wrote:The reason Phantom Scatter connects to a remote server is to check whether you have a valid license. I was talking to the head of IT today and happened to mention that I couldn't get a program to work because it needed internet access for whatever reason and she said that she's had to restrict a lot of internet access due to Japanese rules on ship satellite usage...
It just so happens that this is the last week of this Japanese cruise and next week we start the Korea/China run and most of the restrictions will be lifted so fingers crossed that PS will be able to connect after this!
Thanks for your time
