thanks but this is not a release(development copy), only for someone who has serious problems about ram usage, etc..miroof wrote:C4d crash after a render in deep chanel - zdepth
I've got the image, but i can' t go back to c4d without closing
If you has problems, stay with older one

Hi Ahmed!
I made another comparison of max and cinema 4d plugin. These are very serious problems for me and i hope this example shows cleary why doing animation with c4d is sutch a horror for me right now!
This is a typical situation i had very often in the past weeks!
This are 2 completely identical szenes. Same poly count, same HDRI, same materials - same everything. Every Value in the renderer is the same. I set it up in c4d and 3ds max 2014.
In max i set "movable proxy" and in C4D i set the object tag und update geometry! As you can see clearly (hopefully) the max octane window updates realtime, even when the high poly geometry begins to move. No lag at all.
The cinema4d render window instead is realtime in the beginning, but as soon as the objects begins to moove, it becomes very laggy and what the real position of the objects (light/reflection,....) is a guess playing. If you wanna make sure that it is right, you have to press the "update" button. Again and again and again. Allways, as you can see. It seems C4d plugin has a serious voxelisation problem.
I dont understand it. Why does it work in max and not in C4D. Am i doing something wrong?
I ask thatwhy, because at the beginning of september i get a lot (!!!) of work from cinema 4d clients! They want me to set up camera, DOF and so on and do the final rendering! All those customers use cinema4d and it is a pure horror right now. To convert the szenes to 3ds max and render there, is no option here, cause the clients wanna have the final szenes in cinema 4d, when its finished.
I hope you see how big this issue is for me. Is it my mistake. Do i do something wrong? Or is it a plugin error and can you fix it very, very soon, cause working like this is VERY bad for my health!
The Video is "not listed" in youtube, so just you guys here can see it! I hope i made the video understandable!
Kind regards Chris

cfrank78: Yes it's normal at this moment. Because max plugin don't update geometry only change transform matrix. But our plugin completely updates objects under same tag. This takes some times.
I was trying to describe this on a older thread. Two programs has very different architecture and for stability i have to go this way. This part is not so easy to implement but i'll look for a quick update. But be sure due of complexity of C4D, it's not so easy and quick development. We can cause extra stability problems while this improvements.

I am no coder or programmer. You are the specialist! I am just in this bad situation right now and hope you can be a wizzard! I hope you saw in the vid how complicated it is to set up animation, cause handling reflection and position, especially on gold, is pretty hard if you wanna have good results! The light has to sit 100% correct, depending on the jewelrys position! Tell me the truth please - is it possible to get the c4d octane plugin as fluid as the max plugin? otherwise i have to think about some things, for my future workflow!
For any help for development or error testing call or PM me - i have a seperate testing machine here!
Kind regards Chris!
YES POSSIBLE!!! But as i said, it's more sensitive program against max. Solid but sensitive. Like a german machine;) Now i understand better your request. I was thinking to bring this improvement later. My priority is stability/usability/features. But i decided to do little change for this improvement. I'm going to do some tryouts for this.cfrank78 wrote:Hi Ahmed! Thanks for your quick reply. Thats why i like you so muchcfrank78: Yes it's normal at this moment. Thank you very much Ahmed!
It was not my intention to make my request more important than other requests and/or features you are working on, but i think many of us, use Cinema for animation and special Effects, especially with the new After Effects workflow, which is simply said AMAZING! Doing realtime work at this stage - you know.......
I think this is very important for others too, and would bring c4d octane users a very huge step forward!
maybe you can combine speed and stability
. As i allready said - PM me and i am a willing tester!
Kind regards Chris!

this is probably more a general issue, and not directly about the c4d plugin, but...
the glass/shadows/fake shadows thing seems still very strange... i have a watch, and of course it has a glass.
without fake shadows i see nothing behind the glass, with fake shadows ON, ok i get something...
but the behaviour is still strange, like the glass is swallowing a lot! of light.
for example i have the same chrome on the watch handles and the case...
but the watch handles (behind the glass) are very dark, not reacting/reflecting nicely at all like the case.
why is it so complicated to do things with glass in octane, that should be a basic task for a renderer, not?
in vray this just works without a fuss. anyway... is this an octane problem or am i doing something wrong?
