When does a new fix version of Octane for Maya v3
It is only held back and there is nothing
From OTOY is no message.
What's going on there ?
This is a very bad image of Otoy.

Is Octane for Maya dead for Otoy? :?:

Sorry for my bad Englisch.
I have also heard no reply from OTOY about almost everything for which I've written them. Octane is a magnificent plugin, but OTOY's customer support has been awful.

That being said, Ahmet Oktar, the engineer of the Cinema 4D plugin's support is exceptional.

Kai needs definately more support for the Maya plugin.
He does a good job.
I expected Octane to be a tool for serious VFX productions in the future.
The key is a solid and rocking Maya plugin.
These are good steps for the development of the Maya plugin but a second friendly and experienced developer is needed to make progress and feedback faster.
Octane is a great tool and there are thousends of customers.
I can not imagine why the Maya support is so limited.

I bought the Octane v3 plugin for Maya on May 23rd. That's 2 months and 1 week ago as I write this. The only thing available is an untested Alpha. How is this okay? I messaged OTOY support on June 19. No response. This isn't the first time I've heard nothing back from support either.

That image is so going to get removed --- "Advertising not allowed" :D

But yeah, Maya plugin worth the money? Hell no. I hope for both our and Otoys sake that it gets better soon, otherwise they're missing out on a huge opportunity to leverage Autodesks big Maya mograph/MASH marketing push.

I was surprised people upgraded to 3.0. I can't think of any major software overhaul that doesn't burn the earliest adopters, and in this case, the signs were there that it was going to be far worse than usual. Maya support was already iffy, and this entirely new non-native GUI thing... I mean.... there was no other way this was going to go. And that's not even looking at OTOY's grander scheme, which is... ambitious. If you paid to be an alpha tester, you're probably pissed, and I get that, but you were also not looking at the situation dispassionately.

Octane is a tool, nothing more. The 2.0 tool is still useful for many things, and the market has many alternatives. If and when OTOY provides a viable, stable product, people will buy it and it will flourish. For now, people are either leaving the platform or putting it on hold, while still using 2.0 when appropriate. I used it just last week myself. I'll check in again later this year; maybe something great will have happened. Who knows? :)

Hello,
Thank you for the response. I do not believe this to be a case of spam filtering. I apologize if you did respond, but I never received either of these in my Inbox or Spam folder.

Cameras connect automatically now as well, at least for the cases I know about, but more can be added.
A fix for the IPR crash, leaving only a bug that is with Maya (switching from octane to maya software while the node editor is open, same with mental ray) and Autodesk has received a ticket for it.
Integration with Maya 2016.5 and 2017.
Some cosmetics for node attribute names and color slider UI.
Looking forward to it :) great to see that 2017 will be supported.
