Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that I am running into the same problem.
I know its being looked after. Just wanted to confirm that there is a problem with shadows!
The attachment Shadow_Problem.jpg is no longer available
nice rendering. How much slowdown do you get when you add smoke?
THAnks
I just tested it:
Without steam it rendered 2:40 Min
With steam it rendered 5:10 Min

This is strictly notes related to Speed and multi-GPU:

Standalone 3.0 alpha 1 with 12 GPU

(1) Display choppiness - I am finding with 12 GPU that the view-port display has choppiness when attempting to pan zoom or rotate, and this choppiness is there even with subsampling 4x4. In experimenting, I find that as I reduce the # of GPUs towards 1, the display linearly smooths up such that when you then pan, zoom, rotate, etc., with 1 GPU it is very smooth But, as I increase active GPUs and get closer to 12, it gets linearly increasingly choppy as I pan, zoom, and rotate. I note that the choppiness/stutter/low frame rate-ish effect occurs despite the fact that I have a dedicated card for display not used in the rendering (Titan X).
Most relevant, the linear increase in display choppiness does not occur in 2X build, in any range between 1 and 12 active GPUs, it is always smooth.

(2) Rendering slower (unless you max parallel and max tile samples), expected per developer notes
6 sec on 2.32.2
6 sec on 2.32.2
18 sec on 3.0 Alpha 1 - default
18 sec on 3.0 Alpha 1 - default
8 sec on 3.0 Alpha 1 - Max parallel samples and tile samples
8 sec on 3.0 Alpha 1 - Max parallel samples and tile samples

Thanks for reporting this, it appears to be a slightly different problem. Would love to see the final render once this is fixed :)

Hi admin, I still got no answer~ would u please explain how to save animation secquence deep exr files??or should I save the deep exr file frame by frame??  Thanks!
You got your answer two days ago: viewtopic.php?p=259390#p259390

Of course, it doesn't help if you spread the same question over halve a dozen places... ;)

abstrax, can you have a look at this scene?
Why do the renders look different? Why is the gpu usage not at 100%?

It will ask you to reset your password. I think the old password is the same password you had in the customer area before.

After resetting your password, you can view your licenses here → https://render.otoy.com/account/octanelive.php

Hi all,

I'm just now trying out the new 3.0 alpha and it seems my 3 GTX 780 Ti's fail every single time I try a project, no matter how complex or simple. I've even tried creating just a simple box, sphere, cylinder geometry test with 3DS Max. I export to OBJ format and within a minute or so, one of my cards will fail in 3.00 alpha 1 and then shortly after the rest of my cards fail. The viewport just locks up and will not move. I have no problems with the same project file(s) in 2.24.1 (standalone or 3DS Max plugin).

Any ideas?
