Hi,
Tried to make an animation with 3GTX 1070 and 1GTX 780 dedicated for denoising on completion.
Only the camera is animated, the scene and the meshes are not changed.
All the cards failed and Octane crashes after starting rendering frame 3.
Tried to restart the animation on frame 3 but it crashes again and again ...
Any idea ?

thanks, tried already 3 different simple scenes but no luck despite clicking on the object picker and both Gizmo and Move the Gizmo selector do not appear like in your picture

Make sure your object is in absolute zero in your modeling program or your gizmo might be out of reach.

That's because you must have a Placement node attached to your object to be able to use the gizmo.
Also make sure to click on the toggle button.
I agree that this is really not intuitive at all, they should just make the gizmo working automatically, it's ridiculous that you need to setup a bunch of nodes in the scene just to use the manipulators... C'mon OTOY...

Thanks guys, yes not intuitive at all probably as there is no documentation about it but I wonder how this is going to affect the plugins like C4D or Max as usually just transformig the objects in movable proxy does the same trick not to mention that the exported ORBX from max to standalone is messy as hell and IF I have to sneak into the multiple nodes to attach a joint on every object that I may need to move or scale is just inpracticable.. no joy in this, every object should have his own gizmo or joint automatically attached in my hopinion

Seems more stable in Windows 7 but still crashes sometimes and randomly.

@Haze,

But what About "AI adaptive sampling" to replace our clunky adaptive sampling system ?
or maybe the current system can be feed with a noise map based on the difference between the beauty and the denoise pass ?

There is a talk about that at GTC 2018 :
https://2018gputechconf.smarteventsclou ... tleSort&p=
S8788 - Adaptive Ray Tracing Rendering Powered by Deep Learning
Session Speakers

Andrew Tao - Distinguished Engineer, Director for Deep Learning Applied research, NVIDIA
Carsten Waechter - Ray Tracing Software Architect, NVIDIA

Session Description

This session will present a proof of concept where a deep neural network was trained with pairs of Iray ray traced images (one arbitrary ray tracing iteration number and one fully converged image) and theirs structural similarity index (SSIM). Originally thought as a method for measuring the similarity between two images, SSIM index can also be viewed as a quality measure versus a reference image or, in our case, as a ray tracing rendering progress. The DNN can now from any render iteration of arbitrary scene infer a rendering progress estimator but also provides heat map pictures of the scenes that can be used for adaptive rendering, focusing ray tracing engine power on appropriate zones.

Or is it already the same technique used in AI lights ?

Noticing an issue that is probably related to scene ai however. when scrubbing through an alembic based scene.. the parts are ghosting for a minute before it seems to correct. However, remnants of the parts are left behind in the render layers (mid, ao, etc)
Thanks for the report. I'll look into this.

Hi everyone
@WG, @justix, documentation about the gizmos in the Standalone Edition is located here (Develpment Build) and here (Stable Build). Any feedback regarding these docs would be very welcome, please contact our support channel to submit your doc requests. V4 is an experimental build, as of this date, documentation for Stable Build = 3.07, and for Development Build = 3.08 RCx.

@WG, in your gizmo.ocs: aside from selecting the icon (toggle/move/rotate) gizmo frame, you then need to select the specific scatter node on the nodegraph editor to see its corresponding handle on the viewport. exports from c4d creates a scatter node in place of a placement node.
