BTW - I am using the most current driver 285.58, and I have checked the original Beta of Octane and all works fine on that version

Thank You for any help you can give on this matter

just freezes and sticks there for a long while, may move a frame or two after 1min. or so...

Doing some testing now.... it seems maybe when I include my 460se card into the picture, all starts to go wrong.. more soon...

oooo... wow, looks like that's the bug... one of my 460 cards is a zotac 460se and whenever that one is included the scene 'Locks' up...
neither of the 460 cards are hooked up to my displays (only my 260 is)....
anything heard about the 460se cards producing problems?

hmm... Zotac's HomePage says a driver specified for xp64 is version 280.26.... is one allowed to mount an earlier driver version on top of the more recent version just to satisfy one of the cards?
you can normally use whatever driver version you want. as nvidia always changes a lot of things with each new version, some known, some unknown, and most of them reflect bugs in various games (these are still gamer cards ;) you should be pretty save using an older version. you just not have it "on top" but instead of the current version. i use 275.33, which was the first cuda 4 driver if i recall, and had no problems and therefore never updated...
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

2x i7 2600K @4.5 (P8Z68 -V P), 12GB, 1x EVGA GTX 580 3GB @0900/2200/4400

I appreciate your response!
it's still a little fuzzy to me, though, if I need to completely 'clean' all indications of a driver ahead of installing a new one.. I have been through this so many times now, and will always find some kind of critical error on any nvidia driver... I didn't get out of the office last night until 10pm trying to find the correct sync. the best I could get on the most recent driver was 2 cards working 1 not. So I'll keep messing with it until I find that happy medium. thanks for your replying!

All's working perfectly, now, running the stepped back driver. Guess my Zotac 460se didn't like the newest driver much.

Octane 2.52 does not recognize my cuda drives. My old Octane version (2.46b) is still recognizing it at version 3.20. What should I do to make it work?

I just want to follow up on that freezing issue. My render freezes after a few seconds, especially if I try to manipulate the opacity of a material. Seems like everytime I try to tweak opacity then it freezes. It's never happened before in previous releases.

Hi All,

First post on your forum, so hello to all.

We downloaded 2.52, the 3DS Max exporter (the RC1 candidate and the unofficial one) and a Sketchup exporter plugin off the plugin forums.

All of these plugins seem to have a problem, when we setup a camera in 3DS Max or a view in Sketchup and export this doesn't seem to translate to the the view we see in octane, does anyone have any ideas if this is a bug in 2.52, incompatibility with the plugins or just something we are doing wrong?

We've got some pretty nice visuals out already and our visualizer (Adam) has only been using it for a few days, he's totally converted and has ditched using VRay in favour of Octane, however this camera issue is a real pain.

It seems to do the same thing in sketchup and in 3DS Max - and not show the correct camera view.

Any Ideas?

Cheers,

Dan.

Gradient node seems to be broken. I get pitch black result if I use it:

I don't know Max or Sketchup but maybe they have a pixel ration which has a different value as 1.

One stupid solution is to manualy copy camera settings from max to octane, the other solution is to sit and wait, because 3dmax native plugin is coming out and it will be excellente
