3DS Max would be possible
AutoCAD does not have a obj export available directly.
The only suggestion i made to get round that would have been DFX export which is a common export format.
I think someone else shot me down in flames on that one though.

I meant more like 3DsMax and Maya apps.

My thought is that if getting embedded into app "on the factory", there should be a possibility to make it integrated like Cycles.
It's only a fantasy, but in my marginality :) I can find no obstacle for Autodesk and RS to include a Octane license into Maya package and integrating it as a "shading viewport".
- Without the need to export the .obj scene initialization would be much faster.
- There would be more Octane licenses sold.
- It'd be a gain for Maya as to my knowledge it has no such feature yet.

It definitely is possible for maya, just have a look at furryball
