Currently image output is limited to 8 bits depth with .png file format.
I would want to use Octane for film production, but 8 bits is only for TV broadcast.
I can read in the features list of the software in the TEXTURES section :
"Output of raw HDR images (exr, hdr, canon RAW) ** will be implemented in 1.x updates."
Does it mean that we will also be able to output rendered images in Octane with 16 or higher bits depth per color channel ? Will it support 16 bits .png ?
Thanks for making things clear.

HDR output will be done via OpenEXR. Maybe we will add 16 bit PNG or TIFF, too, but I can't say anything specific yet, as it's not done yet.OctaneFX wrote:Currently image output is limited to 8 bits depth with .png file format.

abstrax, that would be fantastic, because then we can work in a linear workflow in compositing softwares.
I've encountered an small bug. I was trying to do a front elevation of a building by setting a far and away camera and a really low FOV. I lowered the FOV to 1 and started to zoom out, the model was in meters and centered in 0,0 point (I checked twice) at some point I started to get the "wrong scale circles of death" if I zoomed in or upped the FOV to 7 or so they went away. I've reproduced it a few times and seems consistent. Also, now that I'm at it I'll add an small request for future builds, could you add a parallel orthographic view? I do lot's of elevations and more and more "clients" ask me to, since this way they get to draw less
(and they look better too
) so it would be a nice tool.

Orthographic camera is already on the list for 1.x (see here: http://refractivesoftware.com/features.html).kubo wrote:Also, now that I'm at it I'll add an small request for future builds, could you add a parallel orthographic view? When will we get the activation issue fixed so we can do some animations without having it ask for reactivation or taking it longer to activate (longer than it takes to render)...?
