this octanelive it's facebook or what ?
i hope it will desappear as soon as possible.
a part of the web site like "refractivesoftware.com/ocmdb" or "ocmdb.refractivesoftware.com" would be greater.
i cant stand the internet integrated into the programs except the webbrowsers, sorry, and i'm not alone...
pros : an outliner is great
cons : slower, bugs, no mlt ( but it's does'nt matter, what it does is that it is excellent once out
)

Well. You guys worked hard to get this out and under the circumstances did an excellent job at it. Been playing around with it, and the Outliner is a great addition, as well as the emitters and such (Though, buggy. As you would expect with the intermediate release).
Though, there was one thing that I've been wondering. The new feature that uses the internet that was mentioned back when you first announced the 2.3 beta would use the internet.
Is that feature only the Live Database thing for sharing materials and stuff? It seems very similar to the Softimage "ICE" concept, where you build these ICE node trees and share it out with others whom can edit it, etc. Or the mudbox internet browser feature that's built into it. Though, they still work offline, it doesn't need an internet connection(As far as I know it doesn't, unless you're going to download the files of course)
Again, I don't mean to get anything started. Just curious if this was the feature you mentioned.
Thank you for your hard work thus far.

Must be something about the models cos now i tried some other and it works fine.
My system is is Win 7 64bit. GeForce 8800 GTS SLI
With the lastest build something strange/nice happened.
When i used just one card the FPS was about 6.6. With both cards rendering it jumped to 66 FPS if i did not zoom og pan. As soon as i did it fell to 9.5 FPS and stayed...
I see now that it depends on how much of the model is visible. Can you tell that i am new to the software?

there is a reason you limited the power slider to 100 ? 100% ?radiance wrote:a blackbody emitter that's cooler gives less heat and light, so you need to up the power.sam75 wrote:Another problem with emitters is the temperature, when I lower it it tends to black (instead of red ?) which reduces the power.
Also why is power limitted to 100 ?

Just tried this out. Awesome stuff guys! The emissive material is especially nice. Well done!
I have this artifact also prior pre-2.3. The trick is I use glossy i/o diffuse with pathtracing...teknofreek wrote:I've posted this here, move it as you wish, but it's mainly to alert some "Bugs"?? I have had some issues with 2.3 pre not loading some previous ocs files. Most of which should have been generated with 2.1 beta at least.
However, this is mainly about some render issues. There seems to be artifacts caused by the daylight system. Refer pic 2 and 3. A great black blotch occurs when you move the lat/long as shown. It seems to be just after the area in question being immersed in high intensity "sunlight" and then it goes black.
Also there is a artifact on some key smoothing lines refer pic1.
I have seen this before 2.3, but perhaps not to this extent.
I know its early days, just a heads up..
ps, outside those above, my 64 bit version of Octane 2.3 is working fairly well, no major crashes at present. It was easy to activate and I don't have too many issues. I've just started to do a scene with emitters and initial results are very cool..

Yeah, I got those nasty things aswell shown in pic 2. One workaround is to set rayepsilon to 0.0000. Radiance say we shouldn't touch that setting, but it is the only way to fix this for now! The down side is that you can freeze everything if you have a lot of transparency maps in your scene.teknofreek wrote:However, this is mainly about some render issues. Hello,
As I said I tried various combinations and octane still crash after clicking on node.
But today I ran 1.23 for the first time since launch.
I created a simple file ~100 triangles and no textures and i"ve put it in root directory directly so the path to the file won't contain any spaces.
And it worked !
Hope this helps others too.
