Another problem with emitters is the temperature, when I lower it it tends to black (instead of red ?) which reduces the power.

Also why is power limitted to 100 ?

Hi,
For me it doesn't work.
I load an obj file, it gets processed and when i click on the node it exits the program.
Or if I click of any material in database.
That's about all I can do.
I have win xp 32 bit. Maybe it is something wrong with the 32 bit version?
I'll try different obj files to see if it is any difference.

Completely useless on my machine.
It crashes all the time.
I can just load a material from the online DB, rotate it a bit and Octane will close itself.
Previous versions were almost 100% stable on my end.

I see those 258.96 drivers are cuda 3.1. Did you use those before?
It may well be you have the same problems as everyone else re crashing but perhaps you could try try 197.57 which are cuda 3.0

Thanks for the advise, but is it a 2.3 issue only ? as 2.2 works great... no crashes

A lot of bugs!!!
Altough we have all this problems I support the Octane team on this test release. We were all very ansious for this release and they did it! At least we can see what has been done and where is it going. For those who like it, great! For those who don't like it, good too! Now you can think about your next step.
Other renderers keep custumers waiting months for a critical release! Let's see... Vray is talking about GPU for more than a year and still nothing! I'm preatty sure they are going to release a very finished and stabled software but we here know how to work with GPUs and have already built a machine for this next generation. Arion still doesn't support FERMI GPUs although they said this is already fixed!
The Octane team are listening to the custumers and this is very good. I'm happy you released this pre-2.3!
Thanks,
Diogo

a blackbody emitter that's cooler gives less heat and light, so you need to up the power.

I've posted this here, move it as you wish, but it's mainly to alert some "Bugs"?? I have had some issues with 2.3 pre not loading some previous ocs files. Most of which should have been generated with 2.1 beta at least.

However, this is mainly about some render issues. There seems to be artifacts caused by the daylight system. Refer pic 2 and 3. A great black blotch occurs when you move the lat/long as shown. It seems to be just after the area in question being immersed in high intensity "sunlight" and then it goes black.
Also there is a artifact on some key smoothing lines refer pic1.
I have seen this before 2.3, but perhaps not to this extent.

I know its early days, just a heads up..
ps, outside those above, my 64 bit version of Octane 2.3 is working fairly well, no major crashes at present. It was easy to activate and I don't have too many issues. I've just started to do a scene with emitters and initial results are very cool.. ;)
