Hey
First of all
I love Octane, but it‘s so unreliable and to name just one example, I needed the isometric camera for a job.
The workaround with the weird numbers to fake it was not satisfying at all.
And crash after crash, no matter the build.
Because of that and all the commotion about not supporting intel macs anymore in the future.
I installed Redshift.
And it‘s pretty great. Really stable and the only crashes I got was when there were still
some octane materials in the Scene. LOL
To quote someone from youtube
"My biggest issue with octane wasn’t ever the speed or color, what made me switch
was that everything in octane was such a hacky workaround for some of the
most basic stuff that should work."
So thank you for the support so far and happy rendering everyone!

I have a repeating crash when adding a Coating layer.
I'm not an expert in Octane, but I've have attached a screen recording of a simplified scene, so you can see if it's me doing something wrong or if it's a bug.

Hey guys,
I'm facing some issues with my octane as well, since I updated my MacBook Pro M1 (2021) it doesn't work anymore, I have already tried to install the version mentioned above and it keeps showing that there's not CPU device which is selected.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?
Thank you!

I have the 2019 Mac Pro with Radeon pro w6800x and the macOS is 12.6.1bepeg4d wrote: For Mac with AMD GPU, you need to stay with macOS 12.6.1 Monterey and C4D_OctaneX-PR14, it works with C4D R21 to 2023, in particular, for C4D 2023, you can find it here:

so are you planning to release an update to PR14 that works for Ventura or I will be stuck with Monterey?
It's not possible to do it. Because the PR14 SDK is based old XCode and can't build it with latest OS. Octane X 2022.1-RC1-R2
M1Max MBP
Clicking on "Open Live DB" won't do anything
Also the little icon seems greyed out
Is there another way to access Live DB?
thanx

@pcb: please avoid to use C4D Shaders, especially Gradient and Noise shaders:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=75411&start=1250
Please also upgrade to 2022.1-RC1-R2, thanks.
@rocket9design: please go to c4doctane Settings/Devices panel, and check that both apple M1 and Image checkboxes are enabled, or the render cannot start: @elfhundert1100 and chouki:
About LiveDB, latest OctaneX versions are distributed as free Prime version, to speed up the development, so LiveDB is not availble.
If you are already in macOS 13 Ventura, you need to wait for the upcoming stable version.
If you are still in macOS 12 Monterey, you need to install Studio or Enterprise versions of OctaneX-PR14 in a different C4D version, access to the LiveDB from Pr14, and reopen the scene in 2022.1-RC1.
ciao,
Beppe

It's working like that, even if not ideal
I'm still on Monterey and on Enterprise, so I used PR14 in R25 as you suggested
Looking forward to have a 100% functional Octane X, also that would help justify the fact that I paid for Entreprise, ahem...
