Well, I filled in the form but there's no option to not have a second test machine (I do still have an older Mac but no CUDA GPU). I hope they cut us some slack and let us test on a single machine. I'm sure there are plenty of bugs to iron out!
Either way, I'm really excited to get back into Octane and kudos to OTOY's engineers for making this happen.
Octane X for Mac with AMD!!!

It’s not a hard requirement, we just wanted at least some users to be able to test this.Weezer wrote:Well, I filled in the form but there's no option to not have a second test machine (I do still have an older Mac but no CUDA GPU). Would you consider letting *everyone* who signed up at least try OctaneBench X? I'm less anxious about testing with C4D or Standalone than I am about comparing performance between different cards (I have a Radeon VII, 5700XT and 580X around here).Goldorak wrote:

I'd imagine having a large dataset of bench results would be beneficial?
This is all to say I'm extremely excited and at this point I'll take anything I can get lol
There is such a thing as Too Much Information, and I imagine the developers don't want to be overwhelmed. There's a balance to be struck between not enough useful feedback and too much feedback. Not enough feedback and it takes longer to work out the bugs, too much feedback and you waste a lot of time managing the barrage of incoming reports, and likely make people feel that their input is being ignored because you can only handle/respond to a small fraction of them.spybreak wrote:Would you consider letting *everyone* who signed up at least try OctaneBench X?...I'd imagine having a large dataset of bench results would be beneficial?
There's also the issue of the quality of feedback. One well described, well documented problem is worth twenty, "hey, this isn't working" reports. Screening the pool of potential testers can make everything run much more smoothly.

That would make sense. I just saw this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/OctaneR ... 2713626801cjadams wrote:I thought i saw somewhere they were giving it till after the 25th to let people sign up first.
I don't think it will be too long..hopefully.
