I think that looks very good for just one hour
This is very promising indeed. Some optimization and implementation of bidir pt, and we can just imagine how fast it will be

Have found an other mystery with my Linux problem.
PMC work only, when i change the maxsamples to maximum and then type in a value of 12.
With other values, the result is the same i posted before.

i've found a strange behavior of pmc, at least on mac, maybe is similar to the one described by face
after only few samples, the exposition got crazy and all become brighter and brighter.
if i downgrade the iso from 100 to 1/10 the exposition become correct but the strage thing is that after 2000 sample the exposition turns darker and i must reset the iso value to 100

Please enable smaller values for dispersion, I can only go as small as 0.0001. This is a species of error, though I understand it's due to my object scale. Could the data type be changed to the same one used for roughness, which goes as low as 0.0000001?

Hi Guys,
--
I figured I might as well add my question to this thread as it is using 2.47 as well.
--
I have a quick question. I'm trying to get a render tested but I'm running into a noise problem with some reflections on my hardwood floor (this is for an interior render). I could clean this up with some continued rendering but I can only get the maxsampling to go up to 64000. Render time is not really a concern, but I would like to see if the noise could be dealt with inside of octane. This could turn out to be rather limiting if it comes down to this.
As such I'm a bit stuck with this, any chance there is a work around to either clean up the noise in the render or extend the samples?
I'm currently using the 2.47 build with the PMC node (which I love by the way. Good work guys!)
Just noticed this, but is the limit for the sampling tied into the registers/block capasity on the Video Card?
By the way, has anyne noticed how the nodes for the preview confuration node seem to lock up after you render with 2.47? You can swap out the node but you can't adjust the new node until you change a setting in the old unconnected one... Seems weird...

For some scenes there can be quite some bias in the image after the first few samples. Is the brightness in your scene the same as with path tracing after 2000 samples?bepeg4d wrote:i've found a strange behavior of pmc, at least on mac, maybe is similar to the one described by face![]()

You can set the dispersion value to 0. Also this coefficient is not affected by the size of an object. What are you trying to do?doctorpangloss wrote:Please enable smaller values for dispersion, I can only go as small as 0.0001. You can put a surface behind the prism and let the light shine onto this surface.Daniel wrote:I'm trying to simulate this in Octane:
But I can't get it to work. There is no light appearing on the other side of the prism at all, which might be due to there being no way to have a concentrated beam of light (as far as I know). Do you know of any other possible causes as to why this is? I'm using a small emitter inside a tube to restrict its direction into the prism.

Ciao Beppe
another toughy for octane, main light from another room with a recessed wall as door, celing with policarbonate panels and ligth tubes hidden on top, and night hdri outside. Thougt it would be fun. I did the scene in sketchup quite fast (about 40min) and added the girl, stairs, and window frames from the warehouse, there is some mistakes, specially in the girl at exporting, but I just wanted to render, lol, so I might fix it later, also I want to try to add some LEDs inside the pool. I left it over night so 20.000 samples might be overkill. PMC about 2:30 hr each with my shiny new 570, hotpixel 1.0, I'll do a PT test later.
Cheers.
BTW never testing was soooo much fun.
