If I buy an Octane 2 license now, will it include an upgrade.
Not knowing a planned release date may make it hard for Studios to plan upgrades.

this has been confirmed a couple of times by the Otoy devs.. no need to let an impeding release alter your business plans.

Ops..sorry for that thanks...haze wrote:Hi Jo, I have looked at your scene, thank you for posting this. It seems that the scatter node is overlapping around 30 volumes. Please be aware that there is a limit of 4 overlapping volumes (see the release posts). If you change the scale of the volume you should see correct render passes. If not, please let me know.Jolbertoquini wrote:Hi Guys,
Excellent, so farI just made some test with the Volume. and I realize the light passes doesn't work here the file attach.
Sorry if still as wip just to let you know...![]()

abstrax wrote:Yes, we will probably add it in the not too distant future. Don't ask us when exactly, because we don't know. We have already enough on our plate.albehany wrote:thank you guys for this update
there is only one small thing i was hoping you will add it in 3 and the first thing i did in the stand alone i was try to light object with material Emission from both face normal now octane only do it from one side so is there is any hope for me to get this future pleeeeeeesae ;( see the attach image.
thank you and keep the good work
For now you have to work around it by duplicating the emitting surface with inverted normals and spacing them slightly apart.
thank you!
I’ve only tested VDB volumes thus far but have to say that feature alone is brilliant! A huge thanks to the Otoy development team.
I found a great tutorial explaining how to set up and export VDB volumes from Houdini Apprentice if any one wants to experiment with animated volumes. Houdini Apprentice is free and the export procedure is really simple!
While it is a tutorial dealing with rendering VDB volumes in Arnold Render for C4D, the first part clearly shows how to create and export such volumes in Houdini Apprentice. Those files work great in Octane.

Hi,
I'm trying to import VDB volume animation from Houdini via alembic but scene node in Octane is empty. If I import single frame VDB trough volume node everything works perfectly. Also particle animation converted in Houdini to VDB and then to polygons(alembic export again) works smooth under Octane. Any suggestion how to import VDB animation to Octane??
Apart from that I'm thrilled to test v3 !
