I have noticed the same noise difference. Converging on a noiseless solution in max took far longer. Perhaps if we could export to octane standalone for final render?
It seems to be mitigated somewhat by changing the gamma to 2.2 in max. Glass still seems a bit dotty to me. I'm sure it's possible to reduce. Maybe it's something I'm doing. Any ideas?

Are you sure you use the same kernel settings?MaTtY631990 wrote:This is what I have with the same results for both camera and render settings in both octane standalone and octane3dsmax
OctaneStandalone
Octane3dsmax
Anybody have a thought or have tried a comparison. I am wondering whether you need to fiddle with 3dsmax gamma, or something, but does not explain the big noise difference.
Can we get a test scene pls ?Karba wrote:Are you sure you use the same kernel settings?MaTtY631990 wrote:This is what I have with the same results for both camera and render settings in both octane standalone and octane3dsmax

Managed to make the plugin work and loving it!!!
Apparently some dependencies are lost if you install the plugin on a 32bit 3ds max version and a 64bit pc. I think it's due to the fact that installation folder becomes "C:\Program Files (x86)"
Also guys invest more time in writing the manual, it's a bit confusing sometimes - I got stuck on page 11 for a while!
Pg. 8 is wrong. The tab you need to go to is Common - Assign Renderer

Both were rendered with PMC for the same amount of samples which was 500, as well as the exploration strength and direct light importance.Karba wrote:Are you sure you use the same kernel settings?MaTtY631990 wrote:This is what I have with the same results for both camera and render settings in both octane standalone and octane3dsmax

Yes, will there be a solutions to this in future releases?hi, someone tried to export scene to stand alone version with octane materials? here do not work, the .obj file missed all materials.
Will you be able to save as Octane Render Scene in 3dsMax, and as a result import assigned Octane Materials into the Stand Alone?
I am only able to export OBJ with Standard Max Materials. If any other type of material is assigned they are grouped into the same node?
The plugin is fantastic, but I hope to use the Standalone for final render.
Thx.
Hi..the same for me.. I'm a customer. I have Octane Render..so I have activated my plugin with my customer user and password..
I would like try Octane for 3Dmax but with the same User and password..dont'work. While I'have activated account on my PC in Octane Render and I can use it with C4D perfectly.. Thanks
