I tested too and the look depends highly on the environment you use the leaves. It's not worth in every situation and camera angle to set up this material.
It seems to look best with a strong emitter. With a sky or IBL its not that visible.

But maybe its depending on my setup or textures. I think I will use a diffuse with a transmap in most situations.
