I don't know, but it seems that when you import old materials, before the implementation of Color space on maps, instead of converting to the same gamma that was used, it applies sRGB 1 to everything.
is this correct?

Looks good, yes.. I'll look into it. The volume won't probably match Octane, but it would be better that the current point cloud

In the meantime, here is the current version with 3dsMax 2023 support:
