I think warp theory for the TV series was based on the premise of getting from A to B as follows.

Take a sheet of paper representing a section of space you want to travel through.

You travel across the sheet of paper (space) at sub warp from one edge to the other.

At warp the analogy is as follows.

If you now fold that piece of paper in half, then the two edges are adjacent to each other. Therefore you can travel from edge to edge of the paper (eg space) in no time.

Sounds like you want a space race :)
Ah ok, like a wormhole...
But a wormhole is the connection between two black holes. To generate one, you need a mass like a sun.
And then, the wormhole has an theoretical dimension of 10-³³ cm...
But ok, only fiction, not science ;)

Because moved clocks run slower for an external observer.
For you 10sec, for other thousands of years...

After Jaberwocky and me have been travelling 10 seconds at Warp, what means 10000 years for everybody else we still in the Octane beta phase - Something is going wrong here  !?

I prefer the paper folding contest. I bet you can't fold a standart size peace of paper not 8 times (in half). That means "Warp 8" ;)

... this'd be travelling trough a wormhole (like explained in event horizon ;)

the "original" warp wasn't thought that way; it was introduced in mid sixties, and there was'nt much commonly known background in wormhole theory then. gene roddenberry just wanted something pretty much faster than light, and (at least at that time) he wasn't much interrested in theoretical or practical implictations of travelling that way.

btw: there are nice wikipedia articles about fictional and not so fictional warp speed driving:

Ok

I did promise another Shuttle Image.I had a moment to spare so here goes.
Acknowledgements go to NASA for the use of one of their photos of Mars for the backdrop.

Render Details:
The shuttle Rendered for 1hr 50 mins in direct lighting - diffused setting at 2816 x 2192
An external plane emitter was placed to match the angle of lighting on the backdrop.
an Internal plane emitter was placed in the cockpit for internal lighting.

Jpg Size is 1920 x 1200 at 72 ppi if you want to download and use it as wallpaper.

If your wondering. The signature in the bottom corner is Jaberwocky in Klingon :D

Shttle Details:

The shuttle is a type 6 from the USS Crazy Horse.Look closely, the name of the shuttle is the Octane ;)

Would you mind to create a turntable anim of the shuttle in pmc with sunlight mode. That would look very cool.
Good work. Big Ups.
