I'm so jealous haha. But I think I'll better wait until some benchmarks are out comparing the Vega 2 Duo to the Pro W5700X. The price difference is just out of this world. So unless its 5 times as fast ...

Do you guys have it at Otoy already and can test it?

I’ve only personally tested the Vega II Pro Duo, Vega 56,Vega 64
And Radeon VII. During the beta we will get a wider range of systems tested to at least know relative speeds for each GPU.

Ah ok cool. Well I hope somebody here has one. It's one of the more attractive cards I guess, with newer architecture and lower price ...

In any case, can't wait to test it!

Hi everyone, posting this here from the other octane X thread:

After today, we’ll stop accepting new forms for the beta. We are basically looking for about 10-15 high quality testers that 100% know octane inside out on the Mac for their existing DCC and can help us quickly and precisely isolate any variance that is specific to the metal version. We may also need to share this info with other partners that can help debug things outside octane itself, so it is a pretty focused effort in this phase vs. general and more casual user testing like our normal XB releases.

A few more updates:

- We are today finishing up an XB16 build of the iPhone standalone for the first phase of closed beta (Same XB16 version as macOS), so iOS should in fact be testable in tandem with MacOS releases, we just need to figure out how to share the app securely (TestFlight perhaps).

https://www.facebook.com/groups/OctaneR ... 097305796/

- probably good to remind everyone that closed beta is also needed to to more widely test new drivers and os builds (for osl features) that may not yet be out or even announced. That is why the NDA is there at all, and why we and our testers under NDA can’t yet share detailed specifics about performance. I personally really want to share those numbers. So hopefully this won’t be a restriction for too much longer, and of course won’t be the case when we do a public beta either.

@Goldorak, please could you shed some light as to when the public beta will begin? I think even an approximate date would be very useful for many people checking out this thread. :)

may be not.
Vulcan/ Metal tech is OsX only tech like directX libs are for Microsoft, to optimize it are Os related, but nothing forbid that they develop a different way to use AMD cards under win.

Sounds really great, that octane-x is now really not that far away!
Does a netrender enviroment with octane-x and the usual octane will work? like a mixed render network pc-mac?
Or will we have our "old" network render situation work seperately from octane-x...

Thanks in advance for your answer and thank you for saving the mac user !

Kind regards from cologne

I am really excited to finally be able to use Cinema 4d with Octane on my iMac :D
Does anyone know, if it will be possible to use Octane X, with an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019 & Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB graphics)?
And when will Octane X become available?
