OctaneRender™ 4.01 for Houdini™ - production build 4.01.1.1
Moderator: juanjgon
Nope, sorry, but adding this feature should be possible and probably easy if you need it in production. Somehow at some point, this feature had not been added when released (probably I forgot it) and I suppose that it is not there yet because nobody else had asked for it.jandress wrote:Is it possible to create an Octane Infinite Plane in Houdini as in standalone and Blender plugin?

Hello Joanjo,
there is a problem with the intallation of this release.
The shelf is empty and the octane "about" menu shows nothing,
although the menu buttons are there.
I install on linux for the specified 16.0 houdini.
The previous plugin releases worked just fine.
Best

If you can see the top Octane menu, it is really weird that the shelf is not there, unless something is broken in the plugin installation.
In any case, if the "About" option doesn't open the about window, the problem can be that somehow Houdini can't load the plugin. What Houdini 16.0 version are you using and what is your houdini.env file configuration?
Thanks,

Do you use the gamedev toolset ? I don't know why but the autoupdate feature give me a similar issue. After making a brand new .env file everything goes back to normal. The shelf is empty and the octane "about" menu shows nothing,
although the menu buttons are there.

Hi,
Any chances of a 2018.1 build. I’d love to try the new attributes stuff.
Just a polite request.
Regards
Rohan

According to the picture you post few day ago, i"m kinda anxious.
It's really important to include float attributes, vector attributes and string attributes too.
It"s so helpful to be able to mess with strings to change texture path on shader level.
Is it just something you didn't think about yet, something harder to code or something impossible to do with Octane.
I pray for the first case. PLease, please, please !
It will be point only right ?

Hello Joanjo and Blobbybarack,
thank you for you suggestions.
I append the env. file.
As you can see I don t set variables for the Gamedevelper Toolkit there.
I use the houdini version that is specified in the plugins folder name.
The behaviour is kind of weird, because the Octane IPR shelf loads, but the buttons dont function.
The regular shelf does nt load at all.
I can create Octane materials in the shop context, but it gives errors. In the mat-context no nodes are avaible.
An Octane ROP can be selected in the Render menu but it gives an error...
The previous version works fine, as it is loaded by the other line in the file.
Setting the PATH variable does nt help either.
regards
Stefan

Do you know if the offline licensing mode is still going to come back?
