Hi Bk, I sent you a maya project with the scene files with the nhair problems, did you got them?BK wrote:abeoctane wrote:Hi, I am having a problem with this version, it always ask me for authentication when I start maya 2016, It seems I cant use it without internet, also it doesnt translate the previous Maya_3.06.4_-_11.10 "octaneSunSkyTransform" texture and your scene illumination will be destroyed.
When I load my nhair scenes with it, it takes about three times longer or more to load the scene, the same for the ipr, it calculates the scene forever, maya almost freezes on "traslating transform objects..." and 10 minutes later the ipr starts, with the 3.06 the ipr almost started instantly or was taking very liitle time to start the render.
And when the ipr finally finish the window hangs another 5 minutes to be able to interact with the scene again, this dont happend with 3.06.}
The "Frames to pre-cache" setting is in the default "0"
Hello Abeoctane,
Thanks for the post. Yes, this version would require having an active internet connection temporarily.
We are trying to replicate the translation time issue but we suspect it could be something else.
Would you be able to provide/PM us a sample scenes for us to investigate and fix it?
Cheers

Thanks for reply.
Next things.
1. After converting from maya materials octane materials are useless. Some textures are missing in octane viewport (but exists in hypershade swatches), changing attributes of materials do nothing. The only way to fix this is create new shading network.
2. Full scene timewarp is not working in batch render - in octane viewport is working fine.
Cheers!
Hi Vyoor,
Thanks for reporting this. Which Material were you trying to convert?
We have added a ticket on our bug tracking system to investigate the timewarp issue.

Mostly Maya Lambert and Blinn materials. Thanks for reporting this. Which Material were you trying to convert?
And next thing - octane viewport is extremely unstable when animated textures are in scene. Maya crashing almost every move of the timeline. Sometimes istatntly after open scene.
I have a request - can maya open octane scenes always with vewport 2.0 instead of Octane render?
Cheers!

Thanks again!! Try to select the geometry one by one then use the "Convert Selected to Maya material to Octane". Also, check the settings from the Material conversion tuning rollout in Octane render tab.
Launch Maya and switch the viewport Renderer to Viewport 2.0 then go to File menu and Save preference then close Maya and reopen.

And another thing.
This version of plugin is too unstable, I can't render whole sequence because of crashes so tried to export ORBX and render my scene in standalone, and again - problem. Some textures that was linked in maya are lost after load ORBX into standalone.
To be honest - it's very far from STABLE. I would say it's still Alpha. Too many basic features are not working properly.

We are unable to reproduce the error. Which version of Maya and the update are you running currently?
Is it possible to share the crash log file from the Temp folder, so we can investigate or the steps to replicate?

Sorry, aparrently it's not a problem with orbx export but with kind of texture linking in maya. After opening this scene again the textures in some materials are also not working (octaneImageTexture nodes are connected to material),. It's happening when using animated textures and anim curve connected to "Image number" slot. Reloading and reconecting textures do nothing. To make it work i need to uncheck and check again "Use image sequence", but it's only temporary. When opening the scene it's lost again.Vyoor wrote:

The crash log is in attachment.
I'm running maya 2017 Update 4.
Next update - there is not only Index and disperssion problem in specular material, now i have the same issue with octane glossy material and Roughness parameter...
When it could be fixed? I'm a little stuck with the project because of this

Thank you so much for the information and attaching the log file.
We have reported this issue to our developer.
Are you driving anim curve Set driven Key or any script? Could you please provide a sample scene or the steps to replicate?
It would be much faster for us to resolve.
We have confirmed the octane material parameters issue is related to Autodesk Maya 2017 API bug and the issue doesn't happen in 2018.4 !!
Also, please try to update Maya 2017 update 5 and see if the issue still happens.
We would try to get it fixed as soon as possible. I will keep you up to date.
cheers

Ther is a bug in this version. When trying to change diffuse color from attribute editor, while running IPR, the color gets reset to previous value, so you are unable to change the color.
Changing it from Hypershade though, works. Running Maya 2018.4
Regards.
