I couldn't have done it without Battlefield, it was the thing keeping me up through countless nights of rendering.
But now I am more into cycling, veganism and going to sleep on time. Works even better. And no more coffee

With version 4 you can try to reduce the max number of cores Octane uses for certain things - at the bottom of application preferences, "Max cores". With last couple versions 3: I get a critical GPU error and a driver recovery
With version 4: I don't get an error but CPU usage while rendering is considerably higher then version 3 which makes for a lot of stuttering while playing
I have disabled the usage of display GPU for tonemaping and denoising.
