You have to upgrade to 388 or later due Octane requires Cuda 9.1. Reason is that supporting the Volta gpus. Otherwise you cannot get that your gpus are recognised without upgrading your drivers.nickelundmark wrote:Totally agree!! Aoktar, would this be possible? I have the same issues regarding cuda 9.1 drivers.. Extremely frustrating. We are a bunch of user who want this and upcoming versions working. Please shine some light over this issue.Domenicozzo wrote:Thank you for the new release, Ahmet.
Since 3.07 R2, Octane doesn't recognize anymore my 4 GPUs, and I'm pretty sure it'd due to old nvidia drivers I'm currently on (381.65)
My question is: would it be possible to "open up" this and future releases even to older drivers? I've had several problems with Win10 - like many other users - and after several downgrades here and there my system now seems ok, that's why I don't feel to update my Cuda drivers.
Best,
Domenico
Thanks for your superb work Aoktar!

yeah I think you misinterpreted me - I´m well aware of that. Tried every single 9.1 driver. GPUs are recognised, but as soon as I launch a scene and work with it for a few moments the computer freezes and I get a bluescreen with a Watchdog Violation. It then reboots. Running Win 10. And I´m not alone with this problem.
Have tried pretty much everything except switching to Win 7. Running 4x1080ti´s on a ASUS motherboard. If it would help I can provide full specs.
ok for mistery switch to infochannels, i will investigate on my side. But this happens on 2 differents configs (i7 and xeon),aoktar wrote:I couldn't reproduce the issue. Btw why do you use mix material here? Blend material is capable to work with max 12 submaterials. It's much faster and stable to work against mixed material setups.
and here

For mix-material use, how can i mix "simple material" already created before with new blend mat system ? blend mat use submat not "simple" mat.
is the material mix going to be deprecated ?
do we have to use mat blend for any material creation now? even for a "simple" material?
other thing,I do not know if one day I will use so many submaterials but,
when i type 11 or 12 to determine the number of submats c4d crash instanly ( Same on 2 different configs)

it would be great to have some kind of "convert" feature, that converts old mix-materials into new blend ones, ideally as a one-click solution.
would that be possible at all?

Blend material: as far as I remember, Ahmet said somewhere that submaterials are more like a texture and not a material.
So right now blend mat's submaterial is a very nice feature so far but not mixable with the standard materials.
A converting function would be great if possible, I second that.

Not at all. There isn't any right now but the standalone beta only.kid1990 wrote:How can i get the Octane beta verson 4 plugin for Cinema4d?

I can confirm that. GTX 1080, Dual Xeon, Win 10. I*ll send you a bugreport.pxlntwrk wrote:other thing,I do not know if one day I will use so many submaterials but,

I'll not remove Mix material system any soon. It will stay as SA having that.
You cannot use other materials with Blend material but ok to use it with mix materials. What's reason of using standard materials in blend?
Btw I cannot reproduce crash, could you send a bugreport?
