mark0spasic is right, your issue probably depends on RAM, Octane Render eats a lot of RAM in the voxeling phase.
3dsMax eats a lot of RAM too, probably your OS works in paging and stacks and slacks.

I am having this issue too. It takes 10 minutes to finish the scene evaluation.

I have the same issue were a generic scene that I'm testing takes 45 Seconds to load and start VS 10 Seconds of the XB3 Standalone ( 45 tx and 4740973 triang and 2mb Memory used ) is a huge gap

try to use new v3.08.2 - 5.12 or v4.00-XB3 - 6.02 [TEST] releases: Improved Material editor performance: added cache and down-scaling of Material preview images : see new tab 'Material' in user settings.
please use minimal refresh time in viewport settings to 0 ms. Added option to set this refresh time to 0 automatically when loading previous scenes (enabled by default, see option 'Optimize Refresh time for old scenes' of 'Viewport' tab in user settings).
