Hey, I'm really interested in your setup. I've also got a MacBook Pro 2016.

Does your enclosure use Thunderbolt 3?
How is the Octane Performance?
Are you able to use it without an external monitor?
How difficult was setup?

Jumping in here....
Thurderbolt 2 is fast enough so 3 should be just fine.
We use it for a production computer and the performance is great.
never plugged an external monitor in, so I can say you don't need it.
Setup is super easy, take a look at my video above.
